Rush Limbaugh: Why No Push for Duncan Hunter? (Rush implies that Rudy and Romney are liberals)
RushLimbaugh.com ^ | 11/19/07 | Rush Limbaugh

Posted on 11/19/2007 3:37:47 PM PST by wagglebee

RUSH: Mark in Great Barrington, Massachusetts. Am I reading that right? Welcome to the program. Don't have my glasses on so I couldn't really read it, but I guessed and got it right.

CALLER: Yes you got it right, dittos, long-time listener, 24/7 member, and fellow talk show host inspired by you, my friend.

RUSH: Well.

CALLER: Been at it for five years on the Internet, think I've got the biggest show on the Internet, and I've got a big question for you.

RUSH: All right, ask away.

CALLER: All right. The question is this. I think the most conservative candidate that we have for president is Duncan Hunter, going through his website, listening to what he's got on the news, his different interviews and stuff, I mean he definitely meets the conservative agenda head on. And we're just not hearing a lot from him. And we're not hearing a lot from him, from you. And I'm wondering, sir, do you have any plans in the near future for interviews with him, for talking to him on the air? I mean, I did hear, you spoke about an e-mail update you got from him the other day, but other than that it looks like the best candidate here is not getting pushed by the strongest conservative people.

RUSH: Well, here's my answer to your question. I'm asked this a lot and historically I have not gotten involved in primaries, because if I had any of these people, and they have all asked to come on this show, and I respectfully say no, because I'd have to ask them all back. And I really don't look at this program as a campaign vehicle during primaries. Among other things, I, frankly, Mark, I have the belief that political candidates have a duty to get noticed themselves. It's an unfair process in terms -- Mrs. Clinton. Mrs. Clinton is strictly there because she didn't divorce her husband. In fact, she's strictly there because she married him. If her last name weren't Clinton, she'd be the dean of some all-girls' school in Albania touring villages at night and doing whatever you do in a village at night, when you run an all-girls' school. She's just benefiting from conventional wisdom. In the case of Rudy, the reason Rudy is getting a lot of attention is the northeastern bias in the media. The northeastern bias in the media wants two northeasterners to run.

Even some of our conservative journalist friends who are headquartered and work in the northeast, in New York and Washington, are willing to overlook, in some cases, the lack of genuine conservatism in some candidates because they're from the northeast. They have a geographical bias because of where they live. People in the northeast think it's at that it's the heartbeat and the pulse of the country there, and the rest of the country is flyover country and all of that. So it's tough to get out of the bottom tier. You need a really humongous debate performance, and you need an early announcement in some cases when you're going against somebody that's going to benefit from all the conventional wisdom, the media and others. But I sit and watch until one of them surfaces because that's what their job is to do, not mine.

I Support Duncan Hunter

Concise and to the point!

Excellent! Nothing like repetition to give Rush more reason to think about Hunter.

For whatever reason, despite Duncan Hunter’s sterling credentials, he just doesn’t inspire the electorate.

An increasing number of people will disagree with your assessment.

“Duncan Hunter is a good man...but make no mistake, Fred Thompson is a true Conservative as well. Thompson supporters do not tear Duncan Hunter down...why should the Hunter people continue to say that Fred is not a true Conservative?”

I am a strong Hunter supporter and, like you, I have seen people tear down Fred. I look at Duncan and Fred and think, Duncan is better for the world we live in today, so I am going to vote for him. I compare Fred to Rudy, and can not see why anyone would think Fred was not a conservative. I can see why they might think someone else is a better conservative, but I can not see why they think Fred is not conservative.

I wish Hunter could rise in the polls.

He stands a better chance if you help him.

This is where Rush implies that Rudy and Romney are liberals.

There is not doubt that they are the 2 northeasterners. There is no doubt that Rudy is a liberal.

Even though Romney has recanted his liberalism and converted to conservatism, there's not been enough time as a conservative to prove that it was a true conversion, that it wasn't pure political expediency.

Thompson supporters do not tear Duncan Hunter down

Thompson supporters keep trying to spin facts about him as "tearing him down".

Duncan Hunter will protect us. I like Tancredo very much, but Hunter has been most EFFECTIVE on securing our borders than even Tancredo.

Duncan Hunter actually had a fence built which greatly reduced drug trafficking and crime in San Diego, and Hunter authored the bill for a fence from California thru Texas, which was signed into law.

Hunter says border security is national security.

Hunter got us ABS deployed in Alaska, and Hunter built up the defense that Bill Clinton tore down, and got equipment and weapons to protect our troops, and our country, when he Chaired the House Armed Services Committee (when the Republicans had the majority), and Hunter went to Iraq FIVE times, and Hunter did some tough fighting duty in ‘Nam and won a medal, and HUNTER has a son who did two tours in Iraq, including Fallujah, and is now doing a 3rd tour in Afghanistan.

Yes, Duncan Hunter is the best man to protect us.

Rush is in a pickle.

I say that because he knows that whoever he starts leaning towards, will suddenly become the country’s favorite and become the nominee. But having that kind of power is scary. First of all, Rush BELIEVES in america and democracy and capitalism. And if you BELIEVE in those things, you want the system to work it out on it’s own WITHOUT interference from a super duper incredibly persuasive and influential ANOMALY that is rush limbaugh. Rush is an accident. No one person should have so much sway over public opinion. The only reason he has this power is that our pathetic MSM has been taken over by communists. And our government is nearly taken over by these vermin as well. We are so starved for a leader than we have turned to a TALK RADIO SHOW HOST as a surrogate leader. Everyone is waiting for reagan reincarnate and all we have is rush in the meantime.

So what is rush to do? Presume that he is so infallible as to pick the perfect nominee for the citizens? Or let democracy take it’s course and possibly fail by picking the wrong person?

Maybe rush thinks his purpose is to expose the communists in the MSM for what they are and then point out why and how they are no good for america...then let the people do the rest. This country is, after all, supposed to be “by the people and for the people”. Not “by rush and for rush”.

I have the belief that political candidates have a duty to get noticed themselves.

Rush must not be noticing the almost deliberate ignoring of Hunter by the leftstream media today.

It's difficult to be noticed when they ignore you and cover the moderates and RINO's instead.

As I keep saying, we will have to get him noticed. If you agree that Hunter's message is the best and most conservative, screw the media, get behind him. It is time we tell them who we want and stop letting them tell us who we are going to get!

If you e-mail Rush, put something catchy in the subject line to get him to read it. He probably gets thousands of e-mails a week.

Also, if you have more time, may I suggest that you write a couple of e-mails to tv shows, and tell them you would like them to interview Duncan Hunter.

I contacted Chris Wallace via a letter, and some others.

Here are the Sunday Morning shows:

FOX NEWS SUNDAY (Fox Network)
MEET THE PRESS (NBC)
FACE THE NATION (CBS)
THIS WEEK (ABC)
LATE EDITION (CNN)

To contact the media, you might like to use this: http://www.congress.org/congressorg/dbq/media

For all Fox News STAFF and DEPARTMENTS, including e-mails: http://www.congress.org/congressorg/dbq/media/?command=org_pages&org_id=555 - Just fill out form & type your message.

Damn that Rush nails it again........

And in about 43 days they are going to run out of time to get noticed in Iowa. Then a couple of days later in Wyoming, and then a few more days......... hmmmmmm reckon when the 2x4 will hit them between the eyes.

Rush proved the caller right. Rush never once mentioned Duncan Hunter’s name during the conversation. He did manage to get Hillary and Rudy’s names mentioned, though. Just like the MSM and the debate moderators.

To say the least, I was pissed off with Rush. Cutting edge, my @ss.

Not only all that, yesterday I attended a PCO meeting to select Richard Curtis’s replacement. Signing in, I noticed candidate stickers on the desk for nearly all candidates, but Duncan Hunter. I asked where was the stickers for him and received a reply of “WHO?”

The young lady who was there knows who he is now. But, the local Republican Party in Southwest Washington didn’t know who he was!

That is being corrected.
