IIRC, a federal judge sentenced this innocent woman to death by starvation. She was charged with nothing, did nothing wrong and yet she died by starvation. Punishment like that was once reserved for Catholic priests in Nazi camps.

Once in a while you can read a feature or vanity regarding how in the world did the German people knowingly put up with such barbarity.

Actually, the judge was a state probate judge with absolutely no trial experience when he became a judge.
