Rush's eBay Letter Gets Patriotic Venue
'One of the most valuable printed documents of the modern era' at Patrick Henry homestead

A listener, identified as "Ted from Cleveland," asked [Bill Hemmer on Fox's "America's Newsroom"], "What happened with Rush Limbaugh's eBay sale of the Democratic letter from Harry Reid? Did he match the final purchase amount? Did he make a presentation?"
[clip]
To answer Ted from Cleveland, Hemmer invited Limbaugh to respond on the air.
"Well, let me tell you about the woman who was the high bidder on eBay. Her name was Betty Casey, and she's a philanthropist. She's a longtime listener to my radio program. We've not made the presentation of the letter to her yet because she's a widow. Her husband was a real estate developer, it turns out, in Maryland and Washington, and they own or she now owns Patrick Henry's original homestead. She's refurbishing it, and the Harry Reid smear letter is going to be presented there, and placed there when it gets ready.
"So we have it in a bank vault protecting it, making sure that nothing happens to it. The Marine Corps-Law Enforcement Foundation was the charity here, and they have received $4.2 million now from Betty Casey and from me. So it's a done deal. They have the money. We're just waiting for the work to get done at Patrick Henry's place to make the presentation."

Welcome Pajamas Media and Hot Air readers!
UPDATE 2:44PM CST:
Patty from the Eugene B. Casey Foundation called me back and issued this statement:
The Eugene B. Casey Foundation believes freedom of speech is a basic right of every citizen of this country. The purchase of the smear letter was to demonstrate their belief in this right and to support Rush Limbaugh, his views, and his continued education of us.
Bettyc558 was the lucky (and generous) winner of the now famous letter with a whopping $2,100,100.00.
Betty Casey is the Washington National Opera Life Chairman and a loyal Rush listener.
Drudge has a excerpt from the show:
Our winning bidder, subject to the receipt of funds is a wonderful woman named Betty Casey, as trustee of the Eugene B. Casey Foundation. She gives significant sums to hospitals, hospices, colleges, and private schools. These include the Eugene B. Casey Diabetes Education Center, The Eugene B. Casey Swim Center and the Eugene B. Casey Academic Center , and The Casey Home hospice. She has also donated tens of millions from the foundation and her personal funds to the Washington Opera.
Betty has been a listener to my program since its inception, and we cant thank her enough for her support. Wed also like to thank Ebay Giving Works for allowing us to break their website in the closing moments of the auction, and Auction Cause, who was our consultant in prequalifying bidders and developing the auction
Nothing but style. Nice.
:0)
Teddy could auction off his black book and his bloody mary recipe.
Very cool...
This is one of the best turn an evil into something good stories I’ve ever seen.
this is nice, but who wants that traitor’s crap inside the house of one of the founders of our country? Instead he should put it in a rest stop in New Jersey.
That is SOOOOOOOO perfect!
No. Harry Reid is just a dick.
They say that their job is to "report the news in a professional, objective manner." That's what they say, but what their job actually is is to hype their own blarney. And saying that they are objective is just part of the blarney, having nothing to do with reality.
Funny!
Keep Sandy Burglar out of Patrick Henry’s house.
Teddy could auction off his black book and his bloody maryjo recipe.
fixed it for you...

Maybe it is the most valuable letter of all time. Has anyone seen a letter that was auctioned for more?
Sir Isaac Newton's manuscript on the theory of gravity did not come close
Napoleon's letter to Josephine could not beat Rush.
