Mitt Romney called attempts to undermine him by questioning his Mormon faith "un-American" as he spoke to reporters in Nevada yesterday. Romney was specifically responding to reported "push-poll" phone calls being made in Iowa and New Hampshire, in which the calls reportedly begin as opinion polls but turn into statements and questions designed to highlight and cast doubt on Romney's Mormon faith. Spot on! ... As usual. But that’s not the light the Romney camp wants shinning onto their efforts to squelch exposure of Mitt’s religious beliefs to which he is a bishop in high standing.

I was forced (yes forced) to run these pro-Mormon Public Service Announcements, had quite a battle over it. They try and hide that they are Mormon, quite a spin.

Then let me tell you a little story about a Mormon guy named Dario Herrera, protege of Harry Reid who ran for Congress. Dario is now doing jail time for taking bribes from titty bar owners and a whole lot of other people who never got outed. Look up G-Sting scandal.
What do you consider "attacks" in the polling questions, tant? The questions were formulated about mormon doctrine. There were no lies presented as fact, except in the Bible inferiority one and that is debatable....if you look at some of the posts by mormons on FR you could certainly get the same impression.
Are you joining the posters who claim that any question about the religion is an "attack"?
Bringing up any questions about non-religious matters, such as military service are not "religious attacks", and are legitimate questions.
Please list the "attacks" and tell me why you think they ARE attacks.
If you all think this is "Un-American", you are NOT prepared for the Clintons.

There is rubbish within every demographic group, including Mormons. I’m glad Herrera was weeded out. Being LDS, I am sometimes embarrassed by those who call themselves Mormons, just as you are, I’m sure, at times embarassed by some who call themselves Lutheran. But to conflate such a poor example to the demographic as a whole is simply false logic, and you know it. You ignore this logical fallacy because of your personal prejudices; I certainly don’t expect to convince you, but I do expect to laugh in your face when you are proven wrong.
If Romney is shown to be rubbish of this sort, I will abandon him in an instant. Until this is shown to be the case, I remain convinced that he is the most ethical, most qualified, and -yes- most conservative candidate available with a chance at preventing Rudy Giuliani from winning the nomination.
Therefore... Go Mitt!
