Obama: Don't 'Swift boat' me
By: Mike Allen and Ben Smith Nov 17, 2007 12:54 PM EST Barack Obama In an unusual preemptive statement, the Democratic presidential candidate reacts to a report that a smear is coming.
Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) took the rare step of issuing a statement in his own name on Saturday to call attention to a report by columnist Robert D. Novak that New York Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's campaign is sitting on “scandalous” information about Obama.
The information was not described and there is no proof it exists.
Obama accused Clinton of “Swift boat’ politics” and vowed he will not be intimidated.
“I am prepared to stand up to that kind of politics, whether it's deployed by candidates in our party, in the other party or by any third party,” Obama said. “The cause of change in this country will not be deterred or sidetracked by the old ‘Swift boat’ politics. The cause of moving America forward demands that we defeat it.”
Howard Wolfson, Clinton's campaign communications director, said she has "no idea" what the item is about.
"Once again Sen. Obama is echoing Republican talking points, this time from Bob Novak," he said in an e-mailed statement.
"This is how Republicans work.

Swift Boating = Telling the truth about a DemocRAT.
Well, give Obama credit for coming out fighting ahead of the smear...Perhaps if she’s caught outright this will do more damage because it will be against another democrat!
And this crap is all the Republicans fault. How absurd. Bush’s fault. Cheney in charge. Rove is a rovin.
You know the other candidates had to know that CNN was setting the whole debate up to help Hillary - you could see it on Obama’s and Edward’s faces. I think the attacks will be much more effective coming from them......and I hope they obliterate her.

I always love that “change” and “moving America forward” stuff that Democrats use. It’s so empty. Where’s the creativity? Where’s that famous nuance they are always bragging about? All this says is that he is living in the past and can’t even come up with his own slogans, but has to drudge up the old meaningless stuff of the past. Weird for someone saying he wants to change things. Maybe he should start with himself.
Make no mistake Clinton Inc. will chew up anyone who is Hilde’s path to the Presidency.

To me, “Swift boat politics” is about shining the light of truth on lying phony politicians.

Disgusting the way that the word “swift-boating” has entered the vocabulary with exactly the opposite meaning of its original usage. An Orwellian inversion.
Possible the worst moderated debate in US History. Have to wonder was Poodle Blitzer intimated by the pre debate press about Clinton Inc “warning” him or is he just an indicted co-conspirator?
Anybody heard what it is?
There are rumours going around apparently that the clinton camp has some dirt on Obama but ‘won’t’ be releasing it.
Lets hope it is:
1. It make Hussein Obama look bad.
2. It makes her thighness Hillary Clinton look bad
Win win.
