Obama: Don't 'Swift boat' me
By: Mike Allen and Ben Smith Nov 17, 2007 12:54 PM EST Barack Obama In an unusual preemptive statement, the Democratic presidential candidate reacts to a report that a smear is coming.
Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) took the rare step of issuing a statement in his own name on Saturday to call attention to a report by columnist Robert D. Novak that New York Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's campaign is sitting on “scandalous” information about Obama.
The information was not described and there is no proof it exists.
Obama accused Clinton of “Swift boat’ politics” and vowed he will not be intimidated.
“I am prepared to stand up to that kind of politics, whether it's deployed by candidates in our party, in the other party or by any third party,” Obama said. “The cause of change in this country will not be deterred or sidetracked by the old ‘Swift boat’ politics. The cause of moving America forward demands that we defeat it.”
Howard Wolfson, Clinton's campaign communications director, said she has "no idea" what the item is about.
"Once again Sen. Obama is echoing Republican talking points, this time from Bob Novak," he said in an e-mailed statement.
"This is how Republicans work.

Obama seems to be "protesting too much."
There is some kind of buildup going on, and at some point there will be pressure to tell all. And then we will have a new name for a new political trick.

The drive-bys DO care about smearing a Republican candidate... too early for it to hurt him on election day. They hold their cards in their vest until October.
If Obama and Edwards were half as smart as they think they are, they’d team up. One of them drops out of the race to become the others running mate. Those two versus Hillary would give them a fighting chance to actually win the nomination.

If Barry was smart, he would get out in front of the issue/scandal and rob it of the shock value while lamenting the politics that the Clinton’s engage in.
He's walking right into the Clinton meat grinder, and his ethnic background, boyish good looks, and best-seller book won't save him for a minute. He's chum bait already, and he doesn't even know it. Swift boaters aren't his enemy, the Hildabeast is.

Here are some sobering thoughts: Barack Hussein Obama, identifying himself for some years as a Christian, was a Muslim for 27 years. His conversion to Christianity is murky (read his history, pay attention to the word ‘There is nothing to prevent him from potentially converting back to Islam shortly after taking his Presidential oath on a Bible/Koran? (Rep. Ellison of MI was allowed to take his oath on Thos. Jeffersons’ personal Koran (Jefferson had studied Islam in an attempt to understand the enemy during our first war as a country, the Barbary Wars). In addition the entire Muslim world, Sharia Law, defines him as an APOSTATE MUSLIM, and, any Imam in the world can issue a demand for his return to Islam, and, on refusal can issue a fatwa for his death... as POTUS there might be a tsunami of such calls from the Muslim World...the political leverage in either case is a clear, MASSIVE national security issue for the United States. One has to question the motives of the Dim party for presenting him for the candidacy. There is a link, continually updated on the history of Sen. Obama...read it all..he was raised by a white couple as Barry Soetoro, wanted to become the first black POTUS, and was adivised he had to convert to Christianity (because of a possible death sentence, he waited until he was back in the US where he was born. He later changed his name back to hid fathers’ Muslim name....it is all all so potentially deceitful and dangerous for the United States...other disturbing features of his life and social interactions are a potential dynamite keg.
