Giuliani Would Pick Conservative Judges

(AP) Rudy Giuliani assured a conservative legal group Friday that if elected president he would appoint federal judges who adhere to their principles. He also praised a judge who declared the capital city's gun ban unconstitutional and ridiculed efforts to eliminate the words "under God" from the Pledge of Allegiance.

In a speech marking the 25th anniversary of the Federalist Society, Giuliani spelled out a conservative legal agenda in which he cited Supreme Court Justices Antonin Scalia, Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito and Chief Justice John Roberts as models for the judges he would appoint to the federal bench.

It doesn’t matter what they say. What has he done to predict this?

Rudy has been honest with conservatives on their areas of disagreement. And I think he’s being honest on this, as well.

Not sure Rudy has already peaked but if he did win, he would follow through as this is a central tenet of his platform.

NYC isn’t the land of John Roberts candidats either. But should he win. Scalito all the way.

Just words. Real easy to say these kinds of things. Especially when you want people to vote for you. It’s one thing if he had a record that backed up his words. But his record is not impressive in this area so I won’t trust him on it.

Fred Barnes said it right on the political grapevine, Brit Hume’s show on FOX this evening. Basically Rudy is saying, ‘I’m pro-choice but I would nominate strict constructionist judges’; sorry, just don’t pass the smell test

Guiliani would invent a cure for the common cold, cancer, and herpes.

The sooner he runs out of money and slides into obscurity, the better. We're growing tired of suffering his pandering.

We can tell he's lying because his mouth is moving.

We’ll see, when the debate heats up, and Abortion transforms to the “Right to Privacy” and Rooty has a “yes” or “no” question, it will be clear.

I will say one thing for Rooty, and only one thing, he is low down and mean and dirty enough to deal with Clinton Inc.

A choir boy will get eaten alive by those amoral scumbags.

IOW, he doesn't have an abortion litmus test & realizes that judges make decisions other than on abortion...

Giuliani has been held suspect by some conservatives because as mayor of New York he backed some gun control laws and has supported a woman's right to abortion. He has sought to alleviate those concerns, aligning himself with legal conservatives such as former Solicitor General Theodore Olson, who introduced him at Friday's gathering.

Olson and Rudy can burn in hell together. They deserve eachother.

Giuliani’s judicial appointments all looked more like Ruth Bader Ginsburgh than Samuel Alito.

He has made it clear that he never saw an abortion he didn’t think was a constitutional right. And he’s a big supporter of gay rights.

So, what does he MEAN by “conservative”?

We aren’t just talking about his dismal record in New York. We’re talking about what has said in the earlier stages of this campaign, until he realized he was killing himself by saying it.

I don’t care much for Giuliani’s stance on issues such as gun control, abortion and gay marriage. However, having said that, I believe he is fundamentally honest and would attempt to fulfill his promises.

Also, having said that … if he is nominated, I will refrain from voting because of his stance on gun control, abortion and gay marriage, his honesty notwithstanding.

I believe he is fundamentally honest and would attempt to fulfill his promises.

That's probably what all of his wives thought, too.

I agree and the sooner that happens the sooner RINO hannity will SFU. there was a time I did not miss hannity and combs. I have a hard time watching their show any longer and the no. one reason is the fawning by hannity over that gun grabber.

All liberals lie. Especially crossdressing, gun grabbing, “a woman has a constitutional right to choose abortion” liberals. Rudy is a liar.

I would really be impressed if he worked to dismantle unconstitutional gun laws in New York. Should I hold my breath while I wait?

Anyone who supports Rudy HAS to be either real evil or real stupid. I don’t want to call Olson stupid. He just sold his soul for some kind of promise of something from Rudy.
