We should NOT EVER bash any of our conservatives.

Isn’t that a “Reagan-ism?”

If the choice is between Thompson and a liberal whack job then of course I’ll vote Thompson. But Hunter is the real conservative candidate.

Hunter is the 100% pure conservative. (From what I’ve read about Tancredo, so is Tancredo.)

If we take away 10% for a whacked out decision, then we’ll call Thompson a 90% conservative.

That makes Huckabee about a 70% conservative, McCain a 50%, Romney a 20-70% due to his wishy-washiness.

Giuliani is 0% conservative.

The point remains, though, that just because someone wants Conservative A to win does not mean we should undercut Conservative B or C.

At this point, we better be prepared to support the one who breaks out of the pack — and Honestly, Thompson’s numbers right now are better than all the others combined. He is the one who has broken out.

In my opinion we have about 1 week for someone else to break out of the pack. They’ll be able to get their message out up until Christmas. Then the public attention will be all over the holidays, bowl games, family events, etc.

The voting starts on January 3.

One week.

Hunter and Tancredo have ONE WEEK.

Howard Dean was 43% in the polls in Dec. ‘03, and Kerry was 13%.

THEN Kerry went down to 4%, just 3 weeks before the primaries.

Politics is volatile.

Dare I ask what that makes Ron Paul?

I think that politics for democrats is dfferent than politics for republicans.

The media was more than willing to go with liberal Kerry.

The media fights against ALL of our conservatives.

The point remains, though.

We don’t bash conservatives. With our vote split the way it is, and our needing to come together, we are insane to injure who might be the very person we end up supporting for the presidency or vice presidency.

I don’t know about others, but I would rather have too many pings than not enough.

Ron Paul isn’t really a conservative. He’s a libertarian in republican clothing.

A libertarian is a political schizophrenic. The are half liberal and half conservative.....and the conservative half snorts crack cocaine.

:>)

I don’t think we should bash, but we should bring out the differences among the various candidates before the primaries.

I disagree if that is accomplished by bashing the other conservatives.

Ideally, we’d be converting Rudy, Romney, undecideds, and McCain supporters.

“If the choice is between Thompson and a liberal whack job then of course I’ll vote Thompson. But Hunter is the real conservative candidate.”

I very much agree. I do not see that possibility coming in the primaries, but I defineately see that probability in the general election. I could easily vote for Thompson over Guliani, but I don’t have to because Hunter is running and I really do not think Guliani will get the nomination (I pray I am correct on this).

If Hunter does not get the nomination and Thompson does instead, I could pull the lever for Thompson. I darn sure will not pull the lever for the anyone on the other side.

You know, when I met Duncan Hunter in Carson City, NV back in Sept I was planning on asking him about pissant.

I thought better of it because I was going to ask him that if he really got rolling if he thought it would be detrimental to his campaign having someone with that name working for him.

I thought better of it though, but did thank him for coming on FR to chat and answer questions.

I met his wife and daughter-in-law and grandkids a day or so later in San Diego. What a great family. He would make a good President for sure!

“I disagree if that is accomplished by bashing the other conservatives.”

What you are failing to take into account is that there are some, including me, who just don’t see Fred Thompson as a conservative. If anything, he is moderate. In his position on many issues, he’s been all over the place and IMO, no place consistently conservative. I don’t trust him, don’t like him, and am adamantly opposed to supporting him. If he is elected, I expect nothing more than ‘more of the same’.

With support, Duncan Hunter IS electable and by all accounts, has what it takes to beat Guiliani and any of the Democrats. Frankly, I am deeply disturbed that Hunter was ignored by those so-called conservatives who’s mission it was to recruit a moderate in order to attract the swing voters. IMO, it was a huge mistake and I have my doubts about the agenda of those who did so.

But you’re right about the timing. Conservatives should, imo, stop wasting time on the top 4 and immediately begin supporting Duncan Hunter.

Much better than “The View”! Laura should truly be given credit for having to tolerate all of the crap that happens on “The View” while she’s on it.

Despite what you might or might not like about Thompson, he has a 100% pro-life voting record and a lifetime EIGHTY-SIX PERCENT conservative rating by the ACU. Argue with that all you want, but we use that same standard for other senators and representatives, so it should also hold for Thompson.

Now, I’ve been a supporter of Duncan Hunter from the beginning. I’ve sent him my hard earned dollars, but I’m telling you that IF Duncan Hunter does pull off a miracle and become the nominee, he will NEED the support of all the other conservatives who were in this race. He will hopefully pick one of them to be his VP.

If Hunter doesn’t make it, then I’m hoping he’ll pull the plug as soon as that becomes clear and put his support behind the conservative who, based on Duncan’s years of political experience, has the best chance to win a conservative victory.

We can’t tear down Hunter or Tancredo or Thompson or even Huckabee. Those men are all pro-life. They are all pro-gun. They are all pro-family and pro-marriage.

If the media succeeds at getting us to tear up each other, then they’ll be laughing all the way to the nomination of Rudy Giuliani.

If we take ALL of Thompson’s, Huckabee’s, Tancredo’s, and Hunter’s support and roll it PERSUASIVELY AND PEACEABLY into one, then we’ve got a winning percentage.
