Maria Luisa, the UNLV student who asked Hillary Clinton whether she preferred "diamonds or pearls" at last night's debate wrote on her MySpace page this morning that CNN forced her to ask the frilly question instead of a pre-approved query about the Yucca Mountain nuclear waste repository.
"Every single question asked during the debate by the audience had to be approved by CNN," Luisa writes. "I was asked to submit questions including "lighthearted/fun" questions.
I submitted more than five questions on issues important to me. I did a policy memo on Yucca Mountain a year ago and was the finalist for the Truman Scholarship. For sure, I thought I would get to ask the Yucca question that was APPROVED by CNN days in advance."
Now, Luisa is getting "swamped" with critical e-mails.
So what happened?
Writes Luisa:
"CNN ran out of time and used me to "close" the debate with the pearls/diamonds question. Seconds later this girl comes up to me and says, "you gave our school a bad reputation.'
Well, I had to explain to her that every question from the audience was pre-planned and censored. That's what the media does. See, the media chose what they wanted, not what the people or audience really wanted. That's politics; that's reality.
So, if you want to read about real issues important to America--and the whole world, I suggest you pick up a copy of the Economist or the New York Times or some other independent source.
If you want me to explain to you how the media works, I am more than happy to do so. But do not judge me or my integrity based on that question."

911 set them off track for a while.
These people are despicable
LOL!
Yes - I did miss the debate. I fell asleep 10 month old while putting him to bed. DOH!
Anyway, I just can’t see how anyone can support Hillary. It goes beyond politics - When I hear her voice, I feel exactly the same way I did when my mother used to yell at me about my messy room - it goes down my spine!!
Yup. Sums up the whole sorry affair. But she's just a college kid, a little wide-eyed maybe, and nobody else in the entire fiasco displayed any principles either, so why should she? Hell, they were all demorats after all.
Clinton was a wonderkinder for the Media elites because he invited them to ALL of the swanky parties, played up to them, and best of all, was always ready with a cheeky soundbite on whatever issue the media happened to be pimping that week..
Remember when the topic of the CBS Movie Of The Week drove National Policy?
The Media types want a ROCK STAR, not a President, and they got one in Bubba.
President Bush, on the other hand, doesn’t buddy up to them, he doesn’t throw a bunch of media carreer-advancing parties with juicy tidbits of gossip, and he doesn’t put up with thier BS much.
AND THEY HATE HIM FOR IT...
Shocking!
No big surprise here. I knew the fix was in when it was reported that Suzanne Malveaux was going to pre-screen and select the questions. Suzanne Malveaux is a big George Bush hater. And funny, no follow-up from Wolf Blitzer when the Hildebeast answered “No” on the driver’s license question for illegals.
I didn’t even hear if Rush had said anything about the questioners! I was thinking last night, Rush must be noticing how absolutely staged and un-random it was.
What gets me about these Democrats is that they don’t seem to even care if they know that everyone KNOWS it’s cheesy and false.
And COME ON, “right to privacy”??? WHAT THE HEY would that be about, if not to abort? Does someone have the right to privately count stolen money in their home? Does someone have the right to abuse their wife in private (Imams, keep out of this)? But if you have had some great sex and are now inconvenienced with new life growing inside you, well, it’s like peeking at someone in the shower — don’t LOOOOOOK, but I have to privately kill this baby!
I don’t listen to Democrats enough to know that they are STILL peddling the same tired euphemisms and bleeding heart phrases. Seriously, they are the Party that Never Matures. Civil rights more important than American lives? More important than national security? Then they must all have been darn glad that United Ticket agent didn’t notice anything odd about Mohammed Atta on 9/11. Thank GOODNESS no one tried to hinder his civil rights. Look how horrible we have now become. Lucky Atta.
Last night, she was using muscles she didn’t know she had to control that voice. Think the Grinch trying to sweeten his evil tone for Cindy Lou Who. They probably attached razor blades to her solar plexus to train her not to laugh.
Hell we knew that already. But I never thought we might get some proof. I hope Repub nominee is a sharp debater.
The stranger also asked about her kids by name and about some friends of hers by name. It was a not-so-thinly-vieled threat.
that picture is priceless !
Thanks.
