Ten days after the voting in Indianapolis, Indiana, pundits and pols are still shaking their heads over the results of the mayoral race. Two-term Mayor Bart Peterson, named by Indianapolis Magazine as the Democrat to watch for the future, on just about every "Democrats wish-list as a potential governor or U.S. Senator before long, was supposed to waltz to re-election this fall. Republican heavyweights such as State Party Chairman Murray Clark and Marion County Prosecutor Carl Brizzi passed on a race against him, and left the nomination to former Marine Corps Lieutenant Colonel Greg Ballard who had never held or sought office before."

Go figure...my old hometown, Evansville went straight RAT during the recent election.
So what we have here is a Golden boy , 2 gutless Re - Republicans , and a Marine . That’s a book on it’s own and leave it to a Marine I guess . Good show Pubbies !
Every town and city should have a Marine mayor.

The downside to Bart’s defeat... this may free him to run for Julia Carson’s House seat (and if nominated, he’ll probably win).
I heard about this last week when a man called in to Rush with the story. It’s about time that it got some more attention.

Bart can’t be any worse than Carson. Is Eric Dickerson running again for the GOP?
From our perspective, it is easier to beat an unpopular incumbent in the general. Peterson would be far harder to beat and would just be another Andy Jacobs, Jr. to settle in for a long stretch. As far as I know, Dickerson is running again.
