Keep in mind that the US (that's us, the taxpayers) provides the nuclear defense umbrella to protect Mexico, so that Mexico has no real defense expenses. We need to let Mexico know that we will cut off every penny in US aid unless they do something about border security.
Mexico can well-afford it. Mexico is a wealthy oil-producing neighbor and has eleven "Forbes" billionaires, more than all but eight other nations. Mexico has more billionaires than Saudi Arabia, Switzerland or Taiwan. It also has more than 85,000 millionaires. It's telecommunications king---Carlos Slim has displaced Bill Gates as the world's richest man.
According to a CNN report, Mexico sits on oil reserves worth about $400 billion, but Mexico's state-owned oil company, Pemex, doesn't have the investment funds to tap those reserves, and Mexico's Congress refuses to allow foreign investment in Pemex. Some observers say this is due to Mexican gov't corruption, and the obsession to line their own pockets.
Adding insult to injury American taxpayers are subsidizing foreign aid transfers to Mexico from its lettuce pickers and hamburger flippers here. The percentage corrupt Mexican politicans are getting from this $30-45 billion bundle must be considerable (or else it would be stopped).
America should mandate proof for all cash transfers out of the US and/or force all transferring agencies -- banks, credit unions, Amex, Western Union to collect a substantial withholding tax -- 50%, say -- on every unexplained foreign remittance.
The government of Mexico---with all of its oil revenue----needs to be pitching in to protect the borders (AND taking care of its own people, not "outsourcing' them as wards of American taxpayers).
While Mexicans are reconquering whole areas of the US-----the govt of Mexico TIGHTENED their borders, and toughened their immigration laws so they don't have to put up with situation they are foisting on us.
It's an outrage that US citizens are socked with the costs of subsidizing freeloading illegal Mexican citizens, and we are forced to put-up a multi-billion dollar fence, and hire law enforcement to keep these invaders off our land. We get all the grief AND the bills---Mexico gets off scot-free. That has to end.
We know our politicians are pandering idiots. We demand they obey the constitution they were sworn to uphold. We demand they do something about legal American citizens losing their savings/homes/futures.........while freeloading illegal invaders own homes in the countries they emanated from, have cash in the bank, and are sponging-off US citizens.

Here's another one that helps tell the story:
Something alarming that hadn’t occurred to me popped up today. Our long ago previous neighbors in the house (the ones who lived there from about 1978-1993) decided to supplement the electric lines they had by having a gas line run up to their house (I don’t remember the exact date, I’m thinking somewhere around 1982), so in case of a power outage, they’d have an alternate energy source (back in those days without an instant response team, we could be without power for a day — the last time that happened to us was in 1994).
Now, I’m not exactly sure where the line runs precisely, but the outside valve is on the side of the house that faces us. Since nobody has gone digging around that area since the line was put in (and my added worry that some massive pine trees the neighbor planted there almost a quarter-century ago to curtail soil erosion on the steep slope between our houses, whose roots might’ve even pushed the pipeline), now with these morons attempting to dig a trench clear to the road, I’m now extremely worried that with the shovels, picks, axes, and sledgehammers they’re using, one bang of the sledgehammer causing a spark, and the resulting explosion could take out half my house along with theirs (not to mention killing all the illegals standing within a few feet). I guarantee these folks are not “obtaining permits” or much else of anything. The way the current owners (whom are our former neighbors) are “selling” the house to them in a very secretive way, I doubt following the letter of the law is a high priority for them.
As I said, I have yet to figure out precisely what kind of wall they intend to erect. I had initially thought they were going to put up an 8 or 9 feet high wooden fence, but given the 2-feet depth and 1’+ wide trench they began digging, a concrete wall sounds more likely (which would be ghastly ugly and cheap-looking, and effectively make our respective properties look like some Southwestern inner-city slum). I can tell you right now these guys are no “engineers.” They just appear on a Saturday and dig a long hole/trench, and left it there, with the resulting mess from yesterday’s storms leaving a mess in my yard below it.
As I said, it would be a nice finishing touch with these morons blowing up our respective houses with their newest “project”, which is merely designed to conceal from us what funny business they’re up to next door.
Just got finished calling the gas company. They have no permit by these assclowns for digging for their fence (which we learned is a state law requirement). They told us to call the police (which will be probably the 25th time we’ve done so since July).

Take pictures of everything. Judges love to have a notebook full of pictures in front of them, if it ever has to go that far. ;)

A man from Metro Codes came out with their car early this morning, pulled up in their driveway and left. I doubt they saw the digging, since it is on the opposite side of their house.
The danger comes if the line is broken without an initial source spark. If the gas accumulates, you could have a large air disbursal blast.
It may be wise to talk to the permits office in your city, to see if they have a line map on file. If not, you may want to give them a heads up just in case.
I guess you better do it then. Did the gas company have a line map for what your previous neighbors did, laying the line?
We just called the police, supposedly they’ll send someone out this evening (although they don’t always respond to our calls to have someone come out, though this clearly is a bit more serious than disturbing the peace). The gas company rep we spoke to covers the entire state, so all they could check for were digging permits (required, and none found). The gas company people would likely have to dispatch someone out here to check where they were going to dig. In any event, our electric company will not permit them to put up anything along the path that they marked out.
My worry was that as it approached Saturday, they were likely to start work again on either digging or building the fence or wall, or whatever. They didn’t have a permit to dig what they did last Saturday (although there likely isn’t anything under where they were digging, it’s not the point, since they’re not supposed to do it without getting the OK).
There’s also the possibility that now that they removed the existing fence, which was actually probably in violation of the 10-feet law (since they severely pruned a tree on their side of the fence because of its proximity to the power lines), they can’t rebuild in that exact spot, and would have to build further up the hill (and there are already trees in the way). Although I was personally angry about the power company’s requirements, especially that we were forced to remove a beautiful blooming tree, the bureaucracy (for once) may work to our advantage.
I know this is a pain in the arse for you, but I’m hoping you’ll be looking back on this in a year or so with nothing worse than a great horror story to tell.

But, hey, should look on the bright side. If they blow up our house, the insurance $$ we'll get will be more than what we could sell it for -- then again, maybe the actual owners of the house next door (now living in a safer and "upscale" neighborhood, who were in the same bind as we were with declining prop values) had that in mind, too. I wouldn't believe the worst in people if I hadn't ever seen the worst.
