Hilton Hotels is running a promotion by Mark Cuban of the Film Redacted via Lodgenet. This is more than just your typical advertisement for a movie.

Is Mark Cuban the “new” Hanoi Jane?

He seems to be going out of his way to not just promote the movie but to endorse it. No he isn’t as bad as Hanoi Jane or John Jerry both of which met with the enemy who was actively killing our soldiers. Cuban is just trying to make a buck. I just found this advertisement revealing. If I were running a hotel I’d not let such an ad run. It leaves the impression that the Hotel management supports the film Redacted.

The thing of it is, in the 60’s there wasn’t the channels available to spread this agitprop, there were only papers and magazines, now, this movie can live on as propaganda for a very long time.

The media age will give this film legs, and Cuban also was behind those pathetic “9/11 Truther” films.

Hilton hotels deciding to carry this “film” is surprising especially after so many movie houses won’t carry it.

To be fair Hilton is probably just getting this via Lodgenet. I don’t know how much upfront say management has concerning content. The more I watched this advertisement the more it irked me the way it was put together so I recorded it. Even if Hilton management didn’t approve of this piece of crap being promoted in their hotels it should be concerned that this kind of thing could reflect badly on the Hotel chain. I for one am switching to Marriott the week after Thanksgiving. I’ll see if the same promotion is running there. I wrote a complaint to Hilton about it for what it is worth.

Hey, it is a truly disgusting promotion. I saw it the ad last night. I was so pissed. I told them to rip up my hilton honors card. I also told them I work for Sherwin-Williams, and I am going to e-mail hundreds of salesmen to boycott Hamptons. I ask everyone to write to them and do the same.

In case you need another reason to dump Hilton ...

Hilton killed the Friday Night FREE steak dinners for our wounded soldiers at Fran O'Brien's in WDC - I wrote them off then and there. :-(

Nite. ;-)

The POS was on HDNet Movie channel tonight a few times. They air publicly any movies that HDNet distributes prior to the theatrical release.

I didn’t watch it. I’d rather watch a rerun of The Unit. You can get your ‘reality’ there along with the due respect which has been earned by those who put it on the line when called to duty.

I think this needs to be stirred a little more. I’d like to see this brought up on O’Reilly like the Jet Blue thing with Kos. I don’t know what it is but many companies seem to have marketing departments run by idiots. Marketing should NEVER marginalize and fragment your customer base. It is just not very swift, Ford has done this, Jet Blue, Kraft, etc. I think that when a company goes out of its way to support a political cause it is stepping over the line. All I want to do is buy their products, I don’t want to be sold leftist crap. All that does is piss me off and I go elsewhere.
