Not only that but we have a new law (the Legal Az worker’s act) that took effect Jan 1. Businesses will be fined for hiring illegals, they have to check the status first with E-verify and can include temporary loss of all Arizona business licenses if they hire an illegal knowingly. Employers who violate the law a second time face permanent revocation of their Arizona business licenses.
The law also requires that by Jan. 1, employers must use the federal government’s E-Verify system to verify that the employees they hire are authorized by the federal government to work in the United States. Doing so creates a legal presumption that employers are complying with the new law.
There is no cost to register for the E-Verify system. Instructions on the registration process can be found at https://www.vis-dhs.com/Em ployerRegistration or by calling the Office of Verification at 1-888-464-4218.
The business this guy works for is in trouble.
