His appeal is not only to the GOP, but to all traditional conservatives.

Exactly. I'm doing my part to bring as many conservative democrats and union members on board as possible. Most are quite receptive of Hunter given their choice of democrats.

It is time we elect an America First President. Hunter is that man. GWB has been a “citizen of the world” President and a major disappointment.

Duncan Hunter is what we need to restore our country to international prominence like Reagan did. That is why he is getting my vote and the votes of good conservatives everywhere.

Hunter for President.

Good for you, cc! Conservative Democrats are up a tree given their choice of candidates. I find that conservative Democrats are excited to learn about what Rep. Hunter has to offer as president. Just yesterday I sent a salesman away, happy with a Hunter bumper sticker, brocure and mailer card.

The liberal union member is just as much a fantasy as global warming in my experience. I was a union member but was never a liberal and there are quite a few other union members floating around FR looking for a candidate who isn’t going to insult them.

Agreed, but I think Huckabee and McCain are just as bad as JulieAnnie.

I’m not thrilled about Fred or Mitt but I’d vote for them if the nominee.

B4DH. Here’s what I’ve been posting lately.

Here’s a recent poll showing Hunter at 4%.

Here’s an intrade link to the forum site discussing how Hunter might be gaining traction.

Here’s one showing Fred at 6%, and discussing why.

One thing prediction markets are better at — their only bias is whether someone can make money trading the futures contracts.

Fred has lost ~30 points at Intrade over the last few weeks, looks like it’s stabilizing at ~6%.

Oh no, Huckabee is conservative and should not be viewed as anything other than that. Where he stands on near all issues is fairly plain. McCain I would worry about more, but even he is palatable if given no other choice.

The wolf is sheep skin is Giuliani. He’s not conservative! It’s that simple.

Pro- Choice
Pro- Gun control
Personal life is a mess
Big government spender
Pro- Civil unions

What’s left? He’s a liberal with an “R” behind his name.

Compromises need made and few candidates will match all our varied tastes 100%. If the party wants to win they have to pick a candidate that is electable. But they should not do it by running so far left that they abandon all the principals they declare as theirs. Some see the end as winning the election, even if this means abandoning all conservative values. That’s the wrong way to look at it. It’s about issues and it’s a battle of ideas. Sometimes the stars simply are not lined up and the probability of victory is low. Giuliani equates to the old adage, “If you can’t beat em, join em.”

The population has drifted left in the last few years on some issues, and the war has taken a political toll on the GOP, as have various self inflicted sex scandals. You do the best you have with the hand you’re dealt with, and Hunter, Huckabee, Tancredo, Romney, McCain fit this description. The real question in 2008 is if the GOP serves itself or a greater cause. If Giuliani becomes the candidate, then what this party really stands for is clear, nothing.

IMHO

Let’s get real and move on.

Yeah, don't we know Rudy is the future? Duncan is an also ran like that McClintock nut that ran against Arnold, when will we ever learn?

If this need a sarcasm tag, Heaven help us.

“Hunter co-authored a bill that mandates an 854-foot double fence to be built between strategic parts of the United States and Mexico border.”

Build the fence! It’s the law! The globalists seem to be running the show, and ignore the law.

If you look at Huckabee’s actions as governor of Arkansas, and all of his public actions as same, there is no effin way he’s a conservative.

He’s pro-tax, pro-amnesty, pro-nannystate-compassion - IOW he’s another George Bush without the good tax cuts. He’s John Edwards wth an anti-abortion stance.

He can write whatever he wants on his website to the contrary; his words and deeds while in office, and the opinions of conservatives who had to live with him as governor, tell all.
