New SF ID cards for residents - whether in the country legally or not
San Francisco Chronicle ^ | 11/13/7 | Wyatt Buchanan

The Board of Supervisors voted today to make San Francisco the largest U.S. city to issue municipal identification cards to its residents, regardless of whether or not they are in the country legally.

Supervisor Tom Ammiano, the legislation's author, said the availability of identification cards is a smart public safety measure because it would make residents living on the social margins of San Francisco more likely to seek the help of police and could give them more access to banking services.

"People are afraid to report crimes," Ammiano said, referring to illegal immigrants who avoid local law enforcement authorities over fear of being arrested or deported by federal immigration officials.

The legislation would require companies doing business with San Francisco to accept the municipal card as a legitimate form of identification - except in cases where other state and federal laws require other forms of proof of age, name and residence.

Under San Francisco's sanctuary ordinance, it already is city policy that no municipal government personnel or resources may be used to assist federal immigration officials in the arrest and deportation of illegal immigrants.

Ammiano said banking institutions in San Francisco have signaled their willingness to accept the municipal ID card for the purpose of setting up accounts. He noted that people without bank accounts are frequently more vulnerable to theft and robbery.

Since the old fashioned concept of "rule of law" is meaningless, I guess I can go out and rape babies and kill people with impunity.

We need to get a DINO (Democrat in name only) or real republican elected as SF mayor and reset all the damages these democrats are doing. SF people are definately a bunch of sheep. I refuse to go there the whole thing really disgusts me.

According to other news articles "To obtain the card, people would have to demonstrate that they live in San Francisco and that they are who they say they are - which could be accomplished by presenting an identification card from a foreign country."

This is discriminatory AGAINST AMERICANS.

Gad!

Since San Francisco has declared that they are no longer a member of the United States why do we not build a fence around them and not let them out? Except to go to their God Chavez or Stalin or Hitler.

Do not recall who published this some weeks ago but it is the law and why are those in San Francisco not if jail:

Federal Immigration and Nationality Act

Section 274 felonies under the federal Immigration and Nationality Act, INA 274A(a)(1)(A):

Since this is San Francisco, and the laws of the US do not apply, trying to enforce federal law would be almost impossible, except that Bush could cut off all federal money to the city for violating so many laws, including the FINA listed below.

Remember, this is the city that had a Communist Party thug as its District Attorney, from one of the most prominent communist families in SF.

SF, where treason is promoted, traitors are given jobs, and loyal Americans live in fear.

Rank, putrid, discrimination.

Can prostitutes report being stiffed, without fear?

Can druggies & drug dealers report theft of stash or drug cash, without fear of arrest?

Can muggers & robbers report being wontonly ripped off by their fences?

If they're going to give such preferential treatment to one set of criminals, they should extend it to all.

Pretty close to it. The homicide resolution rate in SF is either the lowest in the state or close to it.

As a further note don’t take your laptop with you into the Mission district. There is new version of purse snatching for laptops. Cut the carrying strap and stab the laptop owner. A fellow in one of my college classes had his laptop taken away from him like that. He briefly resisted before being stabbed twice. Luckily he survived.

The first time I visited San Francisco a few decades ago, I was driving around downtown and every now and then would see a woman chasing some man on the streets. Could not figure out what was going on for awhile, then I realized these woman were chasing after their purses which just got snatched. My most recent trip to San Francisco established the certain fact that there is absolutely no rule of law. An interesting place to visit, but you definitely would not want to live there. Sort of like an American Amsterdam.

I wonder if the wording in newspaper articles and policician-speak is changing to “undocumented worker” to avoid violating this statute.
