LENGTH: 30 seconds.
AIRING: Iowa.
SCRIPT: John Edwards: "When I'm president I'm going to say to members of Congress and members of my administration, including my Cabinet: I'm glad that you have health care coverage and your family has health care coverage. But if you don't pass universal health care by July of 2009 in six months I'm going to use my power as president to take your health care away from you. There's no excuse for politicians in Washington having health care when you don't have health care. I'm John Edwards and I approve this message."

Oh, that’ll get the congress critters hopping...MAD.
Keep talking tough, Johnny. That’s the ticket! LOL.
Exactly how is he going to do that since they are co-equal branches of government and Congress sets it’s own rules, creates all spending bills and controls how money it allocates to itself to run Congress is spent. Looks like Edwards has used too many hair care products and it’s destroyed what brain cells are left.
Well, he wouldn’t actually threaten Congress...he’d get Elizbeth to do it while he curls up in the fetal position and sucks his thumb under his desk.
Why don’t you bite an ambulance tire.
‘Exactly how is he going to do that since they are co-equal branches of government...’
Umm, Edwards was a “Senator” wasn’t he...??? Did he not understand how our government works? Or maybe he’s been visiting Chavez or Ahmanutjob along with Sean Penn, Danny Glover et al.
So Mr. Edwards will “take away” Congress’ health coverage and Mrs. Clinton will “take away” money from oil companies.... Is it my imagination or do they sound like Socialists? Maybe they’re ‘running’ in the wrong country!
That was the ticket for this trial balloon, as Mrs. Clinton just won't cut it with actual Americans, and Osama's limited demographics.
There must be some magical power Edwards thinks the president has. My bet is that any congress would comply with his threat and defund health care for white house employees and cabinet members.
And by August 2009 he will be the first president impeached, convicted, and removed from office.
Actually, he would have no ability to change the laws, the president’s job is to enforce them. And the law says they get health care.
So it’s just campaign talk a/k/a nonsense.
I love it when Breck girls get their golden locks mussed!!
Not socialist rather dictatorial maybe the kind of communists you find in China, the old Soviet Union. That BTW isn’t a kind comparison to the true believers in communism if you know how the systems worked in China and the old Soviet Union. I wouldn’t insult the socialists by including Hillary or Edwards in with them.
If this fool actually believes the office of the President can do anything about the perks Congressmen enjoy, he is a tire.
I would LOVE to see that happen...
“And as my next presidential order, all Americans will get $400 haircuts. If I can have it so can all Americans” - John Edwards
Where was this type of legislation offered when he was a senator? In other words when he was paid to do things like that he never did. Where is hillary’s legislation or Obama’s for that matter? I guess they just get paid to do nothing.
he meant popsicles, not health care, whoops.
Or maybe the clown just does not understand that Congress, not the President, decides where money will be spent.
"But if you don't pass universal health care by July of 2009 in six months I'm going to use my power as president to take your health care away from you."
And what 'powers' under the CONSTITUTION would those be mr Silky Pony????
(Someone must have peed in the Breck Girl's Wheaties. Orrrrr he's trying to be relevant)
“There’s no excuse for politicians in Washington having giant ugly houses carved out of the middle of a wooded area when you don’t have giant ugly houses carved out of the middle of a wooded area.
I’m John Edwards and I approve this message.”
You can tell this isn’t serious using one measurement.
Did Elisabeth ‘The Big E’ Edwards say it?
If she didn’t, its not serious.
