Perpetrator of attack on Polish convoy in April detained
12.11.2007 09:53
Soldiers from the international division in Iraq have detained a perpetrator of the attack on a Polish convoy in April 2007.
Private Tomasz Jura died in the explosion of a mine trap.
The detained owned up to organizing the attack on Polish soldiers.
Other five persons, suspected of firing mortars at the Echo base on Saturday, were also detained. The men were caught in an immediate chase after the attack.
Capturing the terrorists is an effect of intensified actions of the Polish soldiers and the Iraqi army after the last attacks on Polish convoys and the Multinational Division Central-South base in Diwaniyah. The commander of the Multinational Division Central-South General Tadeusz Buk stressed that the recent captures could be possible thanks to the quick reaction on the part of the soldiers and the cooperation of the locals.
The terrorists no more have a quarter in Iraq.
I hope these perpetrators get to spend some time in Polish custody.
