Why the Ron Paul Campaign is Dangerous
NewsBull ^ | November 11, 2007 | JB Williams

I hate wasting this much press time on Ron Paul. But the Paul campaign is becoming a real threat to the Republican primary process and if allowed to continue, he will take votes away from the most conservative Republican candidates in the party, not the most liberal. This is bad for the party and the country.

(snip)

So, how Republican is Republican candidate Ron Paul?

If he’s funded largely by anti-war leftists, from Democrat stronghold districts and counting on Democrats, Libertarians and members of the Green Party to win the Republican nomination, not very…

"After 10 years of freeping, it's really sad to see so many neocons upset about the growing number of young, netwise Republicans who are wildly excited about a dark horse candidate who preaches limited govt and a return to basic constitutional values."

I have been "Freeping" way before there was a Freerepublic. Either your heart never was into Conservatism, your you morphed into something more unrepresented here on this Forum.

I haven't seen this Forum change. Perhaps you are one of those "conservatives" who "jumped the shark"?

Since when is Doctor Pauls prescribing a dysfunctional society of harmful drug users that don't care about fighting the war on terrorism a conservative value?

You continue to fool yourself...

“I think what really angers some conservatives, not most, is having the basic premises of U.S. foreign policy questioned by a fellow Republican.”

Not at all. Question, no problem. Adopt leftist talking points is a whole other issue.

“It seems that all Ron Paul has done is show up for some debates, say what he thinks, and accept donations from legal sources.”

No, I’d describe it as pandering to the anti-war left using leftist talking points and poor national security advice, for the purpose of attracting voters from across the aisle, not from within the party that disagrees with him.

“Does Ron Paul have a “dirty tricks squad” like Dick Nixon used to? It seems that his “dirty trick” is merely openly expressing his controversial opinions.”

No, his dirty tricks are spamming polls, pandering to the left and trying to hijack the RNC nomination with leftist money and voters.

“If you want all 50 states to have closed Republican-voters-only primaries, you can certainly advocate that change. But those are not the rules the game is currently played under.”

So, if George Soros and all his 527 groups than invested millions in electing Kerry in 2004, decide to put that money behind RP to effect the RNC nomination in ‘08 primaries, then reverse and vote for Hillary in the general, you think this is fine on the basis that it is “legal?”

“Nobody can ever take Clinton or Obama seriously as anti-war candidates, after listening to Ron Paul.”

Exactly, and that’s why Paul is panmdering for that vote and getting it, at least in the primaries.

“We need Mr. Reagan’s big tent to rule America.”

The BIG TENT theory is what filled the party with RINO’s like Rudy... And that’s why you are mad that we can’t get a conservative atop the ticket today...

The entire "Ron Paul is Ronald Reagan" conservative thing is highly blasphemous to the Conservative community.

RuPaul doesn't pass himself off as a Conservative, but as a Libertarian.

Ronald Reagan didn't pass himself off as a Libertarian, but as a Conservative.

Conservatism is the common sense alternative to Libertarianism.

Jackie, When LSUfan gets to posting his/her threads, I just skim over them and don’t get serious because between, you me and the gatepost I think he’s nuts.

I presume you're saying Paul is nuts, LSUfan is only posting his long lost writings.

We just had a bunch of Democrats and way too many Republicans override a veto of a 23 billion dollar pork bill.

For the sake of discussion, what would Ron Paul achieve as president in your opinion?

You put your thought’s together very well William, but with flawed logic.

“Well, if he’s wrong on national security, then the current administration is ten times as wrong”

Their fact based record says something different, post 9/11. The facts say that we are indeed safer on US soil since 9/11.

“with wide open borders, no security checks and open arms, while supposedly operating a war on terror.”

While I agree with closing our borders, I disagree with your premise. The fact is, if we do not confront this threat abroad, we will have to lock down on guns and increase the Patriot Act powers in order to confront them here. No getting around this reality...

“It is important to any nation. It must have been important to Stalin, Pol Pot,”

Here’s where your emotion driven illogical train really leaves the track. And right here is why conservative rightfully accuse Paul and his supporters of adopting leftist propaganda to promote their agenda.

To compare America or Bush to PolPot or Stalin is insane and that’s where the exchange ends.

This is exactly why RP has almost NO support from conservatives and so long as his campaign spews leftist drivel taken straight from the DNC campaign manual, he never will have.

I assume you posted more of your trashy pics. But your puny server is blocked here permanently.

I don’t see the Paul-haters’ little graphics any more. And don’t expect to see anything from them again. Essentially, for the fun of posting your little graphics, you’ve sacrificed a wider audience for any graphics you might post. So if you post pro-Fred or pro-Duncan graphics (say, even if RP goes home to run for Congress), I’ll never see any of those again either.

Just because you post them doesn’t mean I have to look at them. Or put up with having them clutter my My Comments page or suck up my bandwidth.

Many RP supporters are blocking the Paul-hater spam now.

Look at this #477 post to me from ctdonath2

“If one, as a strict constructionist conservative, thinks the Constitution does not grant Congress the power to ban such things, then legalization thereof is a rational outcome - not because we “want them legal”, but because we want a government that only does what it is strictly allowed to, and no more.”

If this is how libertarians view America then thank God for logical conservatives. Just think what would happen if NAMBLA could be free from prosecution or gangbangers could legally wave a gun in your face?

If the Ron Paul cult are big on illegal drugs and getting high off them then are they even qualified to speak on National security matters such as the War On Terrorism?

"I assume you posted more of your trashy pics. But your puny server is blocked here permanently."

Where is "here", Utopia?

"I don’t see the Paul-haters’ little graphics any more."

I'm deeply saddened by this sudden change of events. You took so much time and effort to block graphics, yet you post 30KB of spew to tell me about it. I'm quite flattered.

And don’t expect to see anything from them again. Essentially, for the fun of posting your little graphics, you’ve sacrificed a wider audience for any graphics you might post. "I'll never..."

I like the way this is going...

"Just because you post them doesn’t mean I have to look at them. Or put up with having them clutter my My Comments page or suck up my bandwidth."

OK....he he!

"Many RP supporters are blocking the Paul-hater spam now."

It's not spam. Are threads on Freerepublic which highlight the "blame America" rantings of Cindy Sheehan also considered spam to you? It's the same here, Cindy Sheehan rants against the US, we slam her for it, Ron Paul rants against the US, we slam him too.

My question is, why restrict yourself to the wonderful contributions of REAL Freepers? Why not take your account to a more "suitable" forum which caters to your views, and not that of 99.9% of the rest of us?

Ron Paul lovers who continue to post here better get used to the flamin', or GTFO.

Absolutely! This is why I don't buy hyphenated, or 'qualifying' descriptions like "neoconservative", "strict constructionist conservative", or otherwise.

I have been the same Conservative I have always been since the time I was a Union Due paying democRAT faced with a choice between Carter and Reagan.

The Ron Paul 08' campaign is desparetely trying to redefine Conservatism, but we won't let him or his dupes, trolls, and idiots get away with it.

It’s not conservative,

Then why pretend it is? Why try to make it appear that there is no difference between thinking you can have Big Government solutions and not have nanny government, and understanding that you can't have one without the other?

You telling me on the one hand that the vast majority of Republican voters and candidates believe they can have it both ways, and on the other hand that only a small minority of these people are RINOs.
