As we celebrate the day when Wold War I was ended, this videos makes us remember the time when Hollywood wasn't ruled by anti-American bastards and useless idiots, but by charismatic and heroic people who prepared the country for the difficult times ahead... The good old days...
Hollywood was always a cesspit of degeneracy, it’s just that the studio moguls were able to keep a lid on it.
I think only his ‘closest’ friends called him ‘erroly’. ;^)
Hollywood has always had it’s share of patriotic and decent people, it’s just that nowadays they have to keep their values and politics under wraps for fear of being blacklisted.
ooops... :-) I loved the way Jude Law portrayed Flynn in the “Aviator”. It was really Robin Hood in the real life
What’s really scary is that one of his closest “friend” was Fidel Castro... Hummm... :-(
What I really love is when Chalize Theron and others play in a road movie in Texas just to be more popular in the real America... It shows who’s ruling the show, after all: the audience.
Errol may have kept his boots on okay, it was keeping his pants on he had trouble with.
One thing for sure future US President kept up with Erroyl on acting front
We watched “I Remember Momma” last night - its an old movie about hard working Norwegian immigrants.
It could never be made today.
What about Spanglish? About a hard working Hispanic immigrant.
It’s like James Bond... It’s the rest of the warrior ! :-)
Try to control yourself if half the planet is after you!
Today, it’s bad, bad White immigrants against good, good ethnic minorities (the less progressive minorities being the best ones on screen)
Hollywood loves losers
That’s true, and starred Salma Hayek as the hard working immigrant.
Alas, Flynn died young from his well-known booze and drug addictions, combined with the syphillis and malaria he had picked up early in life, but, other than being a compulsive womanizer, he wasn’t a bad guy.
It was that statutory rape charge that he beat, and a hit-job biography from 1980 by one Charles Higham, accusing him of being a nazi-sympathizer and bisexual, that have tarred historically tarred him.
At least, like many of his fellow leading men of that era, he had a well-rounded, adventurous career before he stumbled into acting. Not like our current crop of morphed-together pretty boys.
Paz Vega. She’s even better looking than Salma.
Wrong, the leading lady in “Spanglish” was Paz Vega (another Spanish actress playing Meskin’). If you want to see all of her I recommend “Sex and Lucia.”
“Spanglish” really is a good movie. Adam Sandler plays one of his straight-man roles as a hardworking celebrity chef. If you see the movie it’s interesting how his character strongly implies working-class, 1st-gen immigrant origins without being obvious about it.
Cloris Leachman does a great supporting role as the drunk mother-in-law (who sobers up when she’s needed).
What about In America? — about Irish immigrants.
Most of In America was about the American dream which turns to be an desperate illusion for the Irish family...
One of my favorite movies. I love the scene where Mama threatens to tell stories of the sisters wedding nights.
My son and I were watching the muppets last night. The swedish chef was totally politically incorrect. The scene where he made the donuts by shooting out the middles.
Errol AND Bubba both.
