So it turns out the Clinton camp didn't tip after all.
Kos is running with this:
Esterday said "nobody got tipped that day," and NPR should have checked with the Clinton campaign before the story aired to see if any tip was left and how it was done. We regret that this was not done. On Thursday, Esterday was sticking by her story.
"Why would I lie about not getting a tip?" she told NPR. She also maintained that her co-workers at the restaurant had not received tips.
A Clinton campaign staffer called on Esterday at the restaurant Thursday after the story aired. The staff member apologized to her and gave her a $20 bill, according to Esterday. The Clinton campaign confirmed that visit. The campaign also produced photocopies of receipts showing $157.46 was paid to Maid-Rite on a VISA card on Oct. 8 for meals consumed by the candidate's entourage. The tip was supposed to have been paid in cash, and the campaign insisted such a payment was made but has declined to make available a staff member who was present at Maid-Rite and left tip money [...] "Where Hillary was sitting, there was no tip left," Crawford said.

Her supporters are loving this....us paying attention to insignificant events such as this will buy them the time they need to elect the killer. This is not insignificant. It shines a spotlight on her total lack of character.
Discussing her "stand on the issues" is a waste of time. The Clintons are liars and grifters of the worst kind.
During Bill Clinton's first campaighn a nationaly based reporter famously asked a local Arkansas journalist what his position was on a particular issue. The journalist responded "I don't know....ask the last person who talked to him about it."

Hillary did leave a tip but knowing that the waitress would want her to win took it back as a campaign contributionIn exchange she left a certificate for one hundred shares of Milo Minderbinder Enterprises. Everybody owns a share.

Hillary: “Yea, I’ll give you a tip. Vote for me or I’ll add you to the list”.

“During her first term in the White House it was reported that Hillary instructed the staff that when she walks thru the hallways in the East Wing that they shouldn’t look her in the eyes when they pass her.”
There have been several books to make that claim including I think, Gary Alrich’s. He said when they saw her coming they would scatter out of sight lest they be chewed out by Her majesty.

I'll admit that I leave cash tips quite often even when paying the bill with a credit card. I do it precisely to leave the door open for the server to handle it as they please. If an associate is picking up the tab, I'll leave the tip in cash and frankly would feel quite foolish to put a tip on plastic. However, Clinton was surrounded by campaign staffers and one of them is not about to leave a cash tip because they certainly will not be able to get reimbursed. If the tip was on the plastic, then it is documented and the campaign can reimburse the amount.
Of course the tip is now documented MUCH MORE than anyone would care for, so I'd file an expense report to get my $20 back.

From the NPR article
...Clinton recalled the meeting for an audience up the road in Boone. "The woman waiting on us it was her first day," she said, adding, "She was a little nervous. Single mom, raised two boys, works at a nursing home and always has a second job."
If she's elected president, Clinton promised, people like her waitress will have it better.
The way Clinton eased the waitress into her rhetoric is something repeated day after day, by all the campaigns. But in the process, people like the waitress don't always have their stories told.
'Nobody Got Left a Tip'
"I wished I would have been asked first," the waitress, Anita Esterday, said of Clinton's decision to insert her in a speech. "I wish she would have asked if she could talk about me later. I didn't like it when someone called me up and said Hillary Clinton is talking about you. It's like, what'd I do now? What's she saying?"
When I returned to the Maid-Rite a few weeks later, Esterday said the senator had caught her off guard. But once they got talking, she was honest with Clinton about her need to work two to three jobs.
"I've been doing it all my life. Why should it change now that I'm old," Esterday said.
Esterday does not think Clinton got it. "I don't think she understood at all what I was saying," Esterday said. "I mean, nobody got left a tip that day."
Clinton may have decided not to tip. She was also never given a bill her meal was on the house. Still, Esterday said Clinton might have left her something: "Maybe they don't carry money. I don't know."
The visit hurt Esterday in another way. The local paper ran photos of her with Clinton. She said her supervisor at the nursing home isn't a big Hillary Clinton fan and she thinks that may be related to why her hours were almost totally cut.
Now, Esterday is looking for a different second job. However, she said she's not upset that Clinton visited the restaurant.
"I got my 15 minutes of fame out of the world," Esterday said. "There you go. I got her autograph. That's something I'll treasure forever."
But as far as the attention she's received? "It hasn't helped me. It's made things worse."
Still, Esterday doesn't blame Clinton; she says she may even vote for the former first lady. She's also considering voting for Barack Obama.

From yesterday's Tipgate thread by FReeper rawhide:
I just called the Maid-Rite restaurant in Toledo,Iowa (614-484-3720), and I asked them if someone were to pay for a meal with a credit card, is there a line on the receipt to include a tip. They said there was no such line.

really she has an entourage to handle this stuff, she doesnt touch any of it... come on, some idiot forgot to do it, not Hillary, she likely assumed that it would be handled properly, given it is the job of some flunky to do just that.Organizations reflect the nature of their leadership.
You can be sure that if treating the little people well was of any importance to Hillary, someone on her staff would take care of these situations without fail.

Of course you realize that if she doesn’t get the bid, it will go to Obama. Any negatives about him will be met with SHRILL calls of racism.
Republicans will be shamed into voting for him or forever carry the stigma of the “RACIST” party. Go hillary. I would rather beat her (easy enough, I believe) than fight a cow-towing press.

Or, as I told my Darling Daughter, if your date isn't nice to the waitress, he isn't nice...Exactly. I've said the precise same thing to my daughter, in only slightly different words: "Pay close attention to how people treat other people, like waitresses. It will tell you a lot about them."
