AUSTIN An ultra low-cost air carrier Monday announced it will begin service out of Austin Bergstrom International Airport and hopes to attract passengers with its price -- starting at $9.99.
The U.S. Department of Transportation granted Mexico's vivaAerobus the right to fly out of ABIA Monday afternoon. The carrier will fly nonstop to Cancun, Guadalajara, León, Monterrey, Puebla, and Queretaro.
The airline is no frills, and it will have a new terminal that will have no jet bridges, sophisticated baggage handling, gates or ticket counters.

I think it's the one that used to be Aeronaves de Mexico. Rode their DC-6s a couple of times Mexico City-Acapulco in 1960-61. I remember especially the captain out on the wing with a dipstick measuring the fuel load.
.The Acapulco airport in those days was not much more than a shack. Once there was a well dressed, obviously rich fortyish Yanqui lady passenger with her twentyish boyfriend waiting across the room from us, while a large rat capered around next to her feet. Somehow reminded me of "Night of the Iguana" or some other Liz Taylor movie. Happy bygone days!
At least that's what the Mackey captain was always doing . . . .
Too Mexico is 10$ , return flight is probably 1875$........:o)
LOL....yep.
They keep coming north I will make and end run on em and they can shovel snow while I play on the beach !
To quote Frank Sinatra (I think), “this could be the start of something good.”
