Abortion protester claims doctor intentionally struck him with car
Kansas City Star ^ | Nov. 09, 2007 | A.P.

WICHITA | An abortion protester who claims Dr. George Tiller intentionally hit him with his vehicle outside the clinic has sued the Wichita doctor in a small claims case that has attracted the attention of two court television programs.

Mark Gietzen, the director of Kansas Coalition for Life, is seeking $4,000 for his injuries for an April 2006 incident at the edge of the driveway into the Women’s Health Care Services. Two court television programs — Judge Judy and Judge Joe Brown — have written Gietzen asking him to allow the case to be arbitrated on their shows.

Gietzen, who is proceeding as his own attorney in small claims court, conceded it would be unlikely that Tiller would agree to arbitration on the television court programs.

Tiller — who faces 19 misdemeanor criminal charges in a separate criminal case filed by Kansas Attorney General Paul Morrison — has yet to personally appear for any of the pretrial hearings in the unrelated misdemeanor criminal case, leaving his defense to his attorneys.

Tiller’s defense attorney, Lee Thompson, said Friday he had not seen Gietzen’s filing.

“It isn’t even worth commenting on,” Thompson said. “Anything Mr. Gietzen does is not worth commenting on.”

A hearing on the case is set for Nov. 28.

Gietzen, an abortion opponent who has protested outside the Tiller clinic since 1978, said he filed the lawsuit to protect other abortion protesters who gather at the clinic daily.

“That is the only reason to go forward,” Gietzen said.

“He hit me with his vehicle intentionally — and it wasn’t like an accident,” Gietzen said.

Apologies for typos (liabillity? yikes!) and poor grammar.

Apparently, Lee Thompson is now Killer Tiller’s attorney. IIRC, there was a windtunnel Assistant US Attorney/Pillsbury Dough Boy at Wichita in 1991 by that name. Dole would have been responsible for his appointment. If they are one and the same, I imagine that he will be running for office soon backed by the babykiller. The guy I am thinking of would bein his early fifties now and is less intelligent than a sack of rocks.

If they are one and the same...

They are.

...I imagine that he will be running for office soon backed by the babykiller.

He ran for Congess back in 1988 and lost to Glickman. He's shown no interest in running for anything since then.

What wonderful news! Killer Tiller represented by an attorney with an IQ no higher than 12. BTW, he has been known to actually brag that he got 33% in the Congressional race. Lee Thompson thought that was an accomplishment.

So if Killer Tiller had run down and killed this guy, he still wouldn’t have been at fault?? Tiller has bought a lot of protection from the “authorities” in KS, from the governor on down. He gets his money’s worth.

Big Tiller fan, eh?

Nope. Justice fan.

I don't know Tiller or anyone involved here.

"...police told the men that the footage showed that they had time to get out of Tiller’s way and did not do so in a timely manner"

Wasn't someone struck by trying to block cars entering stage buildings in Hollywood last week during the TV writers' strike? This could be a good defense also.

Assuming that Thompson is the same guy defending him on the state charges they've outlined their defense. They're claiming that the Kansas law is unconstitutional because abortion providers are the only "medical" specialty that has to work under such restrictions. So they're planning on taking this to federal court regardless.

I once ran into with my car a total stranger who got in front of my car on purpose, so I just kept going which caused him to spill his 2 drinks he was carrying and to scramble out of my way as quickly as he could, but then he smacked my buddy in the face as we drove past.
I hit a red light a half a block away and the guy chased me down with 4 friends with him. As he approached my open window I sprayed him with mace.
I was stuck in traffic and couldn't get away too well and he caught up to me again this time with about 10 people. After he kicked my mirrors off I ended up driving down the sidewalk to get away with all these guys chasing me and kicking my car and as luck would have it we drove straight up to a parked police squad car and boy was the cop surprised.
The guy who I ran over was red faced and crying and was well known by the police for being a trouble maker and they had a hard time keeping a straight face when he told them I ran him over and he had pins in his knees and then I sprayed something in his face that burned like fire.
I told the police I wanted to press charges for him kicking my mirrors off and they said that since they didn't see it there would have to be an investigation so I asked if they could just hold onto him until I got out of town. The police said that was a good idea so as I was leaving I had a few choice words for my new friend as 2 cops held him and kept him from killing me.

That was about 25 years ago and I bet that guy is still looking for me.
