(Julia) Carson Doesn't Answer 'Yes' Or 'No' To Re-Election Query

Ailing U.S. Rep. Julia Carson did not say in a taped radio interview whether she would seek a seventh term in Congress next year.

The interview aired Monday on Indianapolis radio station WTLC. Host Amos Brown did not say when or where the interview was recorded.

The 69-year-old Democrat has been away from Washington since she was admitted to an Indianapolis hospital Sept. 21 for about a week for treatment of a leg infection. She went to a rehabilitation center about Oct. 1 and said in a statement last week that she was working from home.

Carson's leg had a deep infection near where a vein was removed in January 1997 when she underwent double heart bypass surgery.

During the radio interview, Carson said she also was suffering from bronchitis.

Carson did not give a yes or no answer when Brown asked if she would seek re-election.

"When I get to the point where I come to the end of the road and talk to the Lord about what I'm going to do now, I think He'll show me the answers," she said.

Hopefully Julia Carson will get better, but it looks like she’ll have to retire now. IMHO, she had hoped to pass this on to her grandson. Indianapolis appears to be returning to its Republican voting habits (they made big gains on the City Council as well as winning the Mayorship).

We need her to be the nominee next year. I hope we either put up Eric Dickerson again or even Professor Marvin Bailey Scott, the Black Republican who ran in the '90s.

You know, as much as she has embarrassed and mis-represented us, I hope she recovers fully and enjoys a long life outside of washington.

Many, many years ago she was center township trustee. Julia would walk the streets and tell those men sitting around on porches to get off their butts and go to work, support their families.

She was well suited for that job. Andy Jacobs retired and GAVE that congressional seat to her, she was never qualified, what a waste.

With the tough new anti voter laws in Indiana and his hard work, this seat should fall to Eric Dickerson.
