Military Appreciation Monday

November 12, 2007

For the past 6 years, Golden Corral has been honoring the US Military with a free “thank you” dinner and beverage at any Golden Corral restaurant on Military Appreciation Monday (first Monday after Veteran’s Day).

This year, Golden Corral has designated Monday, November 12, 2007, from 5 to 9 pm, to honor any person who has ever served in the United States Military.

As A veteran, I really appreciate these folks doing this. I have never gone in to the Golden Coral on Vets night because it is swamped with people.
I have done extensive work in the resturant here in Bradenton FL.(fire alarm, burg alarm and closed circuit tv).
I have never worked in a resturant with a cleaner kitchen
than this place!
The food is pretty dang good too.
My hat is off to these good folks.

I don’t eat out much.
But I do think I’ve now found my steakhouse-of-choice.

Glad you put up that URL as it gives a location guide by ZIP or area.

“Glad you put up that URL as it gives a location guide by ZIP or area.”

And I’m happy you posted...so I can bump again.

I used the locator function...and it did a splendid job of finding
the closest location in my area, even if just over the line in an
adjacent area code.

"...As A veteran, I really appreciate these folks doing this. I have never gone in to the Golden Coral on Vets night because it is swamped with people..."

Lake Placid, Florida, like Bradenton, is very rural and the Golden Corral is very crowded on those days—as you say. I wouldn't be surprised to see a gasoline-shortage "spike" due to this effort! LOL

I think I'll go hold a sign outside our local Golden Corral that night that reads, "I Enjoy My Freedom. Thank You Veterans."

My youngest son managed a Golden Corral for several years, and his Golden Corral did this long before 2001. If he knew a disabled person eating there was a veteran, the cashier would never ring up a charge. They always told the veteran that someone had already taken care of the bill. I saw him do that one night and I was so proud!!

These people have the best rolls. (Trust me...rolls are the maker or breaker for a restaurant for me.)

All the Veterans have got to try them. This is great. Be careful not to eat too much!

“These people have the best rolls.”

I agree 100 percent and I eat way too many of them.

My mother until she passed away and my Step Mother always had homemade hot rolls, biscuits or corn bread at every meal.
We called store bought bread wasp-nest and a small loaf would spoil before it was finished.
I used wasp-nest only for an after school snack if there was no left over homemade bread.

Golden Corral + PT tests = bad combo

(Any buffet + PT test = bad combo, but the GC buffet is especially bad because it is so good.)

Plus the nearest Golden Corral I know of is an 8 hour plane ride away, so I’ll have to wait until I retire to take them up on the offer.

"food is pretty good"

I'd never eaten one until last month. My wife and her sister and brother-in-law and myself ate at several (Las Cruces, Rapid City) on a trip to the southwest. The food is delicious (I ate fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy both times), but now I have another better reason to eat there.

I see your hot bread and raise you an ice-cold beer.
