One of the primary advocates in an annual campaign to keep the word "Christmas" in the public square says it has donated 1,000 Christmas buttons to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) club at a high school in Maryland.
The American Family Association (AFA) says the FCA chapter at Glenelg High School in Howard County was told by the school's principal that signs posted by members around campus -- for their "Operation Christmas Child" project -- needed to be changed. He allegedly forced them to cover the word "Christmas" and replace it with "Holiday." School officials did not immediately answer a request from OneNewsNow for comment.
The FCA's local project -- which is not affiliated with the annual nationwide collection of shoebox gifts by the ministry of Franklin Graham -- collects toys for children of incarcerated parents. As part of the project, the FCA chapter was posting signs encouraging students to help those less fortunate. AFA spokesperson Cindy Roberts says the 1,000 buttons -- stating "Merry Christmas: God's Good News" -- have been offered to restore the original religious message of the club's posters.
"AFA wants every student in the school to have a button to wear. Putting the word 'Christmas' on a poster is hardly a violation of separation of church and state. [Forbidding] it does, however, establish hostility toward Christians," she says.
Roberts says the school should be called on to uphold rights assured by the Constitution, including free speech and exercise of religion.
Parents need to splash some cold water on their faces and begin acting like parents. Those muslims moving in next door would never stand for this insult!

Fine. Cancel the “Christmas” vacation where the school is closed for a couple of weeks. For just a “holiday” a long weekend should be adequate. Ditto all the government offices.
This doesn’t surprise to me at all happening here in the People’s Republic of Maryland.
And the secular socialists scoff when we call them on their war on Christmas (and religion).
It’s because they MUST operate from concealment, and any exposure leads to certain defeat.
Keep that in mind, FReepers, never let a SS hide behind “good intentions” or denial that they are out to destroy traditional culture.

....glad to have gotten out of Howard County and retired to the mountains of North Carolina....I remember when Glenelg HS first opened that part of the state was Anglo-European/Judeo-Christian....guess things have changed.
