I don’t live in Calif., our gas prices are going up also. Most people are silently waiting for the economy to collapse soon, so there is no real reaction. Upstate economy is so depressed already that it were not for high fuel prices we probably wouldn't notice anyway.

Where do you live? I’m in Ohio, we’ve seen a increase, but not to bad so far. Paying 3.06 for the low grade gasoline today.

Even at $4.00/gal, most people still pay more in Fed taxes than fuel costs. The big worry is the price of diesel, which drives our economy, and moves much more directly with the world price of oil.
This is why we should be punching holes offshore and in ANWR.
