Gail Collins: Rudy Was 'Busy Committing Adultery'
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 11/08/2007 4:16:12 AM PST by governsleastgovernsbest

Over the course of his political career, Bill Clinton was literally and figuratively embraced by countless pastors, most of whom presumably went to their pulpits on Sunday to preach traditional values, including marital fidelity. If memory serves, neither Gail Collins nor other liberal pundits noted any irony in people of the cloth endorsing the spectacularly straying Clinton.

But let a preacher praise a Republican with a personal history, and Gail Collins thunders like Billy Sunday with a bad migraine. Here's the opening paragraph of her "Pat Loves Rudy" in today's New York Times [emphasis added]:

"Back in mid-2001, when Mayor Rudy Giuliani was busy committing adultery, lurching into his divorce and third marriage and rooming with a gay couple he promised to marry as soon as the law allowed, who among us would have imagined that one day he would be endorsed for president by Pat Robertson?"

If we were in a general election, I might agree.

We’re in the NOMINATION stage - and pretty much any of the other candidates is a better conservative and a better man than Rudy.

Robertson is either incredibly stupid, or dishonest. I’m inclined to think both.

Here’s a dumbed down version. Maybe you can get this one. (I’m trying to make it easy for you.)

TRUE or FALSE, the subject of the posted article is “Rudy Giuliani would make a fine nominee for President in the Republican Party”.

TRUE or FALSE.

(Hint: if it’s too tough for you, flip a coin.)

Nothing personal but you are saying something frightening when you say having Hillary in office may not be a bad thing.

Believe me when I say that Hillary would be a nightmare in the White House...BUT...

...she would hand the Congress back to the Republicans on a silver platter where I see the best progress for reform can be made and the death of all that Hillary wishes to see come to pass.

Don't blame the messenger when the message, that we will have squandered 6 years growing government and turning an eye from the illegal invasion problem, is the truth.

Appoint 2-3 SCOTUS justices like Ginsburg that will take any serious reform of abortion, gay rights, or other social conservative issues off the radar screen for at least a generation, if not longer. Nationalize health care giving us a Canadian system. Marginal tax rates over 50%.

All of which must be passed through CONGRESS, which Hillary will deliver to the Republicans should she be elected.

Extremely Extreme Extremist posted:

Rudy’s nominated = 3rd Party

You posted:

3rd Party = President Hillary Clinton

I conclude:

Rudy’s nominated = President Hillary Clinton

(Some people learn in junior high school that if A = B and B = C, then A = C. Maybe you missed that semester.)

Now here’s your bonus question:

In the above statements, what is the proximate cause of ‘President Hillary Clinton’?

That equation is perfect. You can browbeat 70 to 80 percent of social conservatives into voting for Rudy. The energy that those voters bring to the election will be minimal. The other 20% will stay home. Winner: Hillary

Perhaps, but such a Congress swing wouldn’t occur til the midterm elections. That gives her 2 years to work her evil. Some of the more liberal SCOTUS justices might bail after she is elected, letting her get her nominees rubber stamped by the still Dem Congress.

Obviously?

What the hell are you talking about?

I’m talking about the quality of your ignorant and classless post.

It has nothing to do with whom I support.

Actually, the dope launched a personal attack on anyone who supports Giuliani.

I responded that his post was worthy of Kos and DU.

He responded with another non sequitor attack saying I was “obviously” a Rudy supporter.

I’m not a Rudy supporter, but I don’t think he’s the devil either. I also come to this site for informed discussion - not ranting.

The anti-Rudy loons here (I don’t include those who oppose him calmly and rationally), along with the Paulites, are an embarrassment to this site.

I’m talking about the quality of your ignorant and classless post.

If you genuinely find the stated contention that "'sanctuary cities and their proponents demonstrably do NOT enhance one's safety from potential terrorist attacks" an ignorant one, then it should be child's play itself to demonstrate precisely how and why that should be so.

... or, of course, you could blithely continue "raving, ad hominem spewing, [and] frothing at the mouth," as you have just now, in your last post.

I sleep just as soundly tonight, either way.

Well, recruiters, and I suppose those in manpower.

I would expect the ranks, being from old style, regular Americans to be much like FR.

I agree with you Kent. Posters like this guy are the embarrassment because they believe themselves to be conservatives. It is a shame they are incapable of seeing themselves for what they really are.

They need to start a site called “Country Club Delusional GOP”

Oh, wait a minute, they have the WideAwakes, home of crones and harpies.

Seems like the little work done so far is so that the elite can say they are for it, with out being for it. I really think they want illegals here in such numbers that, and I have heard it, that ‘they’ are too far gone as a problem and the rest of us should live with it.

One of the main ways to stop/slow the flood is by liberalizing the corrupt Mexican economy. But, the Mexican elite are ‘our friends’, as are their poor in our country, or so I’ve been told.

Your sanity and overall perspicacity (particularly as a point of comparison) is both admirable and appreciated. ;)

Something like that.
