I don't disagree at all. Perhaps the state of Florida had an interest, but not the Feds, at least according to my copy of the Constitution.
If we want a return to Federalism, we have to start by being consistent.

Lancey, I’m with you. The Terry Schaivo case was bungled by the State of Florida and in the State of Florida, from the county level to the State level and back. The outcome was an outrage against human dignity and life. All true.
Yet, the answer Fred Thompson gave on Sixty Minutes was correct, even if it could have been expanded upon.
The harsh truth is that Federalism means that States can and will make mistakes, and the Federal government ought to and must stand aside.
When state governments exceed their authority and act in a tyrannical and autocratic fashion, whose job is it to step in and stop state governments from abusing their power?
“I could not understand why the husband couldnt have just let the parents care for Teri. But he didnt.”
We all know people like this. Control freak that had to win.
Only the observation that either subject can reduce FReepers into right-wing versions of moonbats within ten posts.
Excuse me, that was Meet the Press..... Oops...
Do any rational conservatives still listen to that blow-hard?
I hate it when the left calls him a Conservative. The guy is simply a self promoter always tooting his own horn. He is not a Conservative... not even close. He's more like Clinton -- playing the game for all it's worth.
Heres where most of the Terri Schiavo money went:
These funds, the result of a malpractice suit, were meant solely to provide for Terri Schiavos care and rehabilitation.
=======================================================================================
Atty. Gwyneth Stanley - $10,668.05
Atty. Deborah Bushnell - $65,607.00
Atty. Steve Nilson - $7,404.95
Atty. Pacarek - $1,500.00
Atty. Richard Pearse (GAL) - $4,511.95
Atty. George Felos - $397,249.99
1st Union/South Trust Bank $55,459.85
Michael Schiavo - $10,929.95
Total: $545,852.34
Virtually as soon as Michael Schiavo received the monies from the medical malpractice claim involving his wife, Terri Schindler-Schiavo,
he withheld all therapy and rehabilitation services from her.
Terri Schiavo had sustained a serious brain injury as the result of a suspicious incident in their home in 1990 and in 1992,
her husband had filed claims against several of her former doctors, claiming her collapse was caused by a misdiagnosis.
He received over $1.5 million in 1993 including $750,000 which had been specifically earmarked by the trial jury for Terris rehabilitation based on a life expectancy of 50 years.
Mary and Bob Schindler Sr., her parents, consulted a St. Petersburg attorney about removing Michael Schiavo as their daughters guardian and discussed the case at length with him.
Unfortunately, the Schindlers did not have the amount of money the attorney demanded as a retainer to take the case.
That attorney became the judge in the case-----a totally prohibited conflict of interest.
Thereafter, the attorney-judge approved the hiring of George Felos as the attorney for Schiavo to be paid from the trust fund and the stage was set for her judicial homicide.
The judge wasnt George W. Greer.
It was Mark I. Shames.

Regarding Terri's Hospice Certificate for Woodside Hospice House
NOTA BENE: 1) NO physician signed this Certificate for Woodside Hospice House.
ERGO: Michael Schiavo and Greer acted without a medical license.
They had to murder her and cover it up.
2) Examination of the "Terminal Diagnosis" reveals.
It appears to have been changed after the fact. It was clearly written while the
rest was typed, AND in a handwriting different from the rest.
In medical records, that is a sign of tampering. You can bet whiteout is probably underneath.
3) The Certificate states she will live less than 6 months.
Yet they took $$$ from the insurance company(ies?)
and you know the rest.
ERGO: They apparently had to murder Terri to cover it up.
He’s not “finished” as far as I’m concerned. I totally agree with him on this - the feds should have stayed out of it, even though it was heartrending.
Horse Crap.
Voters
Why would ANYONE interfer in a family decision? And why is Fred Thompson being discussed about what happened? He has expressed his opinion which people can agree with or not.
Shouldn’t have anything to do with his being a candidate.
And the Grand Prize goes to Mr. Monk!
Note to Tailgunner Joe: Better luck next time.
