Daughter Of Fred Phelps, Westboro Baptist Church Founder, In Court Today
by Susan @ 8:04 pm. Filed under ACLU, 1st Amendment, Child Exploitation, News, Fallen Heros
Recently we saw Albert Snyder, father of Lance Cpl. Matthew Snyder, take the Westboro Baptist Church, which is no more than a cult disguising itself as a church, to court for disrupting the funeral of his hero Marine son with protests.
Then we showed you that the father won his lawsuit and was awarded $11 million dollars in damages. You hear Phelps reaction to that news here and you can see all of Stop the ACLUs post about this group here.
Today we see reports that the daughter of Fred Phelps, Shirley Phelps-Roper, is in court asking a Sarpy County judge Monday to order prosecutors to spell out in writing why she is charged with flag mutilation, negligent child abuse, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and disturbing the peace. They say the details of those charges will be important to Phelps-Ropers defense.
HEH.
Security was tight today as Westboro Baptist Church member Shirley Phelps-Roper appeared in Sarpy County Court to answer charges that she mutilated a flag and put her child in danger while protesting at the funeral of a Bellevue, Neb., soldier.
Although the Sarpy County Sheriffs Office prepared for a possible protest by members of Topeka-base Westboro Baptist Church, none materialized. A few family members and her attorney accompanied Phelps-Roper, 50.
According to Bellevue police, Phelps-Roper had her 10-year-old son stomp on an American flag. Church members had obtained a city of Bellevue permit to protest.
The church, founded by her father, Fred Phelps, has protested across the country at the funerals of numerous soldiers, alleging that their deaths were Gods retribution for Americas toleration of homosexuality.

I wonder if the court could mandate that these fruitcakes take birth control so they will stop reproducing?
Of course I realize all of the ethical, moral and constitutional issues involved with this.
But...I distinctly remember drug addicted women receiving court mandated Norplant during the 1990s so that they couldn't go out and get knocked up while they were smoking on a crack pipe.
For these Phelps fruitcakes...it's wishful thinking.
More fun for our favorite “church.” Hope this case goes just as well for them as the last one.
Where is the Radon gas when you need it?

I saw this group last summer in Topeka. They were picketing a church. I looked at the kids holding signs on a beautiful summer day when they should have been at the park or the pool or just having fun with friends. The looks on their faces said they’d rather be anywhere else.
I never thought about the kids of the Phelps clan...... until that day. Now I think of them often. I wish I could rescue them. Even if for no other reason than to show them that GOD IS LOVE. They ARE abused, IMO. It must be awful for them.
Not even close to the ethical, moral, and constitutional issues involved with letting these thugs disrupt funerals all over the country, year after year. The Supreme Court has upheld "time, place, and manner" restrictions on First Amendment rights, and it shouldn't be difficult to put a stop to this. Just trying randomly selecting a funeral in your area, and standing nearby with an obscene sign in the path of entering mourners, and bellowing obscenities at the top of your lungs, and see how long before you get arrested. This "church" has long been accorded special rights that nobody else has.
Miserable bitch. She’s very much her father’s daughter, and deserves whatever she gets in this case.
is she defending herself?
Tough cases like this make us look at ourselves and ask are we principled or just part of the mob.
Maybe she’ll get fried. Not the Chair, but I hope they put her in jail.
Most of what the Phelps clan does is to push people over the line so they can sue. I hope the procsecutors are careful.
I still say the Phelpses are very likely imposters. It is all too suspect that they were Democrats meeting with top Democrats not all that long ago. They are either crazy or they are phonies. They have to know that their protesting helps the people they claim to be against by building sympathy. Okay third possibility: They are either crazy or phonies or morons.
That video is so sad...Those children are being brainwashed. I hope for once that somebody finally gets them out of that sicko cult.
Someday they will push the wrong person too far.
It may not be technically right what action is taken, and I may find it difficult to condemn, but that doesn’t change the fact that someday it will happen.
I’m just sayin’.
I think there’s a lesson to be learned about “the sins of the father...” here.
John Stossel did a report on these turds not too long ago. The kids are unfortunately being conditioned every day. It’s going to take a bunch of work to de-program them.
It makes me literally sick to my stomach when I see those idiots smiling indulgently as they urge their children to stomp on the flag that so many honorable men and women have given their lives to defend. God help me, I cannot begin to forgive these people for that.

Shirley Phelps-Roper and Brent Roper-Phelps
Do the men who marry into the Phelps clan take their wives last names too? What a bunch of weirdos.
