CBN News: Romney Scores Major Endorsement - Weyrich
CBN News ^ | 11/5/2007 | David Brody

Posted on 11/05/2007 1:17:00 PM PST by Bosco

This is a big one folks. In a Brody File exclusive, we've found out that Paul Weyrich, the former co-founder of The Moral Majority has endorsed Mitt Romney for President. The Brody File has the press release. Read below:

Today, Paul Weyrich, Chairman and CEO of the Free Congress Research and Education Foundation, announced his support for Governor Mitt Romney and his campaign to be our country's next President. Paul Weyrich is one of the premier leaders in the conservative movement, having founded the Heritage Foundation and the American Legislative Exchange Council.

"As he travels across the country, Governor Romney has outlined a blueprint to build a stronger America rooted in our common conservative principles. With a clear conservative vision to move America forward, he will strengthen our economy, our military and our families. More importantly, he already has an exceptional record of putting conservative values to work. Because of his experience, vision and values, I am proud to support Governor Romney," said Paul Weyrich.

With today's announcement, Governor Romney said, "Paul Weyrich has put his stamp on the conservative movement in this country. It is an honor to have his support and counsel. Through our efforts, we can work to ensure that Washington always stands on the side of building stronger American families."

I can’t get enough of these posters who claim everyone around them are sellouts except THEM. They are the wise ones...them and a few other town-criers. They would save us all, if we would only be so wise as to listen to them!

In the past week we’ve had at least half-dozen respected, established leaders of the Christian community who’s names have been smeared and dragged through the mud by these few posters who will scorch and burn anything that stands in their way. Pathetic.

Mitt keeps a grueling schedule. He probably does need a nap now and then!

Well, Mitt looks pretty fresh. It's his hair that needs the nap. LOL.

Your other points about Weyrich's influence as a movement conservative are dead on. Some people will say he's no longer such a huge influence in the GOP as he once was. But I think he is still very influential with other conservative and Religious Right leaders.

Weyrich has his own way of thinking about elections, politicians and party policy. He picked Romney for very practical political reasons, no doubt. He's very single-minded about electing a candidate to implement specific policies.

I'm sure Weyrich will write about this, explaining his thinking. It should be interesting.

How about this picture. Guess who Romney's son dressed as for Halloween:

As Romney himself?

It's not really a great costume though.

Thank you. That was very helpful. The main reason I am not supporting Romney as a first choice, even though I think he would be a very good president, is because of how some Americans treat their candidates and their president. Note how they have tried to blame Bush for everything and try to destroy him at every turn. If Romney is the nominee and then the president, I think we will see some very ugly things come out of the dregs of our society. I don’t want to hear RINO and anti-Mormon crap for the whole campaign and the next four years. I would hope people would surprise me for the better, but I don’t think they will.

Nice to meet other Romney supporters here. I think our numbers will grow. Maybe we’re the silent majority.

I just noticed the keyword 30piecesofsilver?? Man, that is tacky. Why are conservatives tearing at each other like this? It only helps Clinton.

Yeah, they are like the Wahhabis in Saudi Arabia. Everyone is an infidel except them. I’m a conservative and you’re not. I’m a Republican and you’re a RINO. I’m a patriot and you’re a traitor.

No... they are supporting a liberal... mitt is liberal... and yes... if you believe that he is Conservative you bought the “big lie”. Those that act like anarchists are who we were referencing in that post.

You may have your own agenda for being here...

..but to speculate that James Dobson will endorse Mitt Romney is way over the top!

Duncan Hunter has the best credentials going, bar none, and I'm still hopeful those who have the courage of their convictions will endorse him and him alone.

No one has to twist themselves into pretzels or back peddle to say good things about this man.

He is genuine!

You and the new Mitt fan are having fun speculating who you hope will endorse Romney.

Phyllis Schlafly, James Dobson.....I know have the courage of their convictions...

..so don't hold your breath.

It likes to roar about Reagan being pro-choice, just can’t back it up. Been there, done that before. ;^)

I’m not sure I would call this a major endorsement. Weyrich is a likable enough man, but I haven’t agreed with him on much for years. But I would definitely call it a curious endorsement. Does it influence me? Not at all. Weyrich means well but he is wrong.

Weyrich may have founded the Moral Majority, but I believe he has long since denounced himself for doing so. I don't think he can decided what he ought to be doing as a Christian....and yet he keeps on talking.

Again, he is a decent man and I'm not really out to trash him. He is simply wrong -- AGAIN!

Well here is an interesting twist, and something I did not know:

Seems Mitt’s new fan is not really a supporter of the war...

It was the text from a link, not my own speculation.

No need to aim your hostility at me because you don’t like what you read.

It was your post, an almost gleeful one with the word newsflash and everything.

If you don’t agree with the defeatist position on the most important issue of the day, the same position MoveOn, DU, Ron Paul and now it appears Weyrich takes, then I would suggest a disclaimer even if you are trying to make a point to favor your guy.

Just a thought...
