Question Clinton's credibility (surprise college paper editorial)
Daily Collegian (UMass) ^ | 11/05/07 | DeFlumeri

Those who follow politics and are not awestruck by Bill and Hillary Clinton - a rapidly expanding segment of the population - generally have some questions about the ethics and morality of the former first couple.

Many commentators from the political left and right have written extensively on the sexual, real estate and ethically questionable practices of the Clintons.

Ann Coulter established her longstanding career and notoriety for meticulously documenting the ethical transgressions of the Clintons. Her best-selling 2002 book, High Crimes and Misdemeanors, brings together the illegal and morally reprehensible things the Clinton family has done, as well as all those they have hurt in the process.

Unsurprisingly, there is another political dagger being launched that could easily do further damage to the dwindling credibility of Hillary. On Friday, Oct. 26, The Equal Justice Foundation of America unveiled "Hillary! Uncensored: Banned by the Media." The documentary's debut was put on by the Republican club at Harvard University and then quickly disseminated nation-wide.

The scathing documentary chronicles how, in the run-up to her 2000 New York Senate victory, Clinton illegally obtained millions of dollars in political donations from a number of unchecked donors - and then lied to the press and the public when questions were raised. The documentary illuminates how the Clintons illegally raised upwards of $12 million via a Hollywood political gala in August of 2000, when Bill still resided in the White House.

I am really encouraged by this. The Dems have been playing the “Party of Corruption” card for 2 years now. Even they cannot ignore the Clinton baggage forever.

Back in the mid 80’s,there was a small but vocal conservative voice there.I’m sure if there is one now they are completely marginalized.

Was it in the 60’s the term “Dissent is a good thing.” was coined about college students? Don’t here that any more, do you?

If Clinton supporters were amenable to facts her approval rating would hover around 10%. Her supporters embrace her for fulfilling their fantasies, she lives vicariously for them. It the same reason that the children of welfare mothers idolize spoiled wealthy athletes.

Hillary stumbled in last week's debate, and showed where she's vulnerable. She needs to be hammered from now until the primaries, with the intention of taking here out.

Without Hillary, the Democrats have only Edwards and Obama. These are two major league lightweights. Either one will go down in the general election worse than McGovern.

I suspect there are a significant number in our college-age generation that realize she’s after their money, and would rather keep it for themselves.

I sent him an email that we have his back. Regardless of what his politics are, we should be ready to weigh in.

Nice article, with the caveat that is is written by an undergrad - and that the author should choose his voice and stick with it. He clearly has made up his mind about Mrs. Clinton, yet he titles his piece and writes some of his column in a voice which sort of wants to sound "objective." IMHO the choices are to write in your own voice, and be prepared to defend your opinion - or don't write.

If you really want to do well as a conservative collegiate columnist, you might consider prepublishing your work here on FR and seeing what FReepers say about it. With the sort of feedback you can get here, you should be able to see clearly what questions arise in your topic. And react accordingly.
