SANTIAGO, Nov. 2 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake registering 6.3 on the Richter scale rocked Antarctica at 2031 GMT Friday, the Chilean national TV station reported.
According to the survey of the U.S. geological research bureau, the epicenter of the quake was 3,641 kilometers from Punta Arenas, Chile's southern most city.
Earthquakes rarely hit Antarctica, and their scales are normally small.

I think it’s caused by the weight of the ice. The ice sheets at the South Pole set a record this year — Global Warming, don’t ya know ;)

(Wonder how long it will be before “It’s Bush’s fault” comes up in the MSM, linking this to global warming and their immediate question about global warming, “melting the Antarctic Ice Cap”, or this earthquake being influenced by “the melting of the ice cap” - when, in fact, the Antarctic Ice Cap is growing and getting colder???

I’m watching this too, there is a Volcano under the Ross Ice Shelf, and two reallly unstable glaicers roughly between those last two shakers.
this is unpleasant developement territory.

the Ross Shelf by itself could rack up a double digit sea level rise.
I was watching the Greenland melt but this puts the Ross Shelf back on top.

Whose fault is it this week, Bush or Rush? I lost track.
Hope those NBC nuts got a jolt here.
What do you expect? Global warming has melted away part of the shelf and made it overbalanced on its right side.........If any more melting occurs it's quite likely to flip over completely.
