Abortion became a litmus test item some 4 decade ago.
A President might have one (1) abortion related bill, if he/she serves 8 years.
Yet, abortion has become a litmus test item, because both the Christian right and liberal left can use it for or against the candidates.
Initially, it started as 'whether FED funding could be used by welfare moms' and it has been allowed to grow into a massive electioneering issue that gets raised every 4 years.
