CBNNews.com - The Pentagon has said the security situation in Iraq is rapidly improving, with deaths among coalition forces dropping the past five months.
Last month it was said casualties declined to the lowest level since February 2004.
Iraqi civilian deaths are also down and much of the progress has been attributed to a recent troop surge.
Michael Yon has been embedded with coalition forces in Iraq and runs a blog reporting from the front lines there.
He spoke with CBN News on his observations of changes in the country. Click the play button for his comments.

Yon says “I used to see 2-4 firefights a day. I have not been in one in over a month now.”

Progress in Iraq. Progress in Iraq. Peace, calm, blah, blah, blah...
Good grief, that's all anybody talks about these days.
 :-D

In the video, Michael Yon talks about the fact that recently Sadr has formed the “golden force” (something like that) that is trying to take out rogue JAM militias. I had not heard that at all, has anyone else? That is quite significant, I think.

I haven't been back to the States for seven months. ;-)
I'm still in Baghdad, home away from home.

I've got CNN on right now. (Yes, I know...) I haven't heard them mention Iraq in weeks.
Well, they just did. They mentioned killings being down and then said "but people are still dying in the streets." They're going to follow up after the commercials. They're going to smear negative spin all over this.
 Gee, I can't wait.
This has to be just killing them.

It's the leftist version of moving the goalposts. They will never acknowledge our victory in Iraq. There will always be a "but" - ignore them.
To: frankenMonkey
    - ignore them. No can do. I've watched them lie for almost four years now.
No WAY am I going to miss watching them try to worm out of this. I thoroughly enjoy their obvious discomfort.

Hmmm... I guess I’m remembering post from back then. The older I get, the less perspective I have on time.
I hope all is well and you are safe.

They mentioned killings being down and then said "but people are still dying in the streets." Have they been to Philly lately?

I found out the other day that the Special IG is employing less than professional methods in his Iraq witch hunt. Finding people with agendas and axes to grind who have not been actively involved in projects for years.
Yall miss me?
Finally got wise and got my pc out of the trailer into a picnic table between the trailers.
Now that the temperature has cooled down to 85 during the day in North Central Iraq, the nights aren’t too bad.

The utter defeat of Al Qaeda in Iraq is the most significant historical event since the fall of the Soviet Union and communism.

True. With the fall of Communisms, the Liberals had stain-head Gorby to credit. Whom will they chose this time? John Kerry?
