The debate over immigration amnesty could soon return to the Senate floor. Sen. Feinstein plans to attach AgJOBS to the Farm Bill Extension Act of 2007. The AgJOBS bill is all too similar to the comprehensive immigration bill that was rejected in Congress last spring which would have granted amnesty to millions of people who are unlawfully present in the United States. The AgJOBS legislation grants amnesty to agricultural workers who are currently unlawfully present in the United States. According to estimates, approximately 1.5 million workers would be granted "legalization," as well as an additional 1.8 million family members. [chain migration] Attaching AgJOBS to the farm bill is another attempt at stealth amnesty and would create more problems than it would solve.

"We will put these Amnesty bills in until we win and every terrorist has Amnesty.
Death to America."
"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious.
But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly.
But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself.
For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men.
He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist.
A murderer is less to be feared."
-- Marcus Tullius Cicero
Here we go again. They do not care what most Americans think or want. They will keep it up until sooner or later, they’ll get enough Republicans to allow it to come up for a vote. Voila! It will be a done deal and nobody will care what we say or think since our votes will be diluted by foreigners, pardon me, brand new citizens, whose votes can be bought cheaper than many or ours were.

Nana, you’re right. It does make a big difference if you call, write, or fax your representatives. The guy to the left in the left photo is my Republican senator, Mel Martinez. He’s not laughing anymore. After he supported “comprehensive” immigration he dropped like a rock in the polls here. Now - surprise! - he’s starting to vote the right way on immigration legislation. Diogenesis, Cicero was right.
Martinez was also the head of the RNC...
When he and the other RINOs pushed the AMNESTY Bill, Republicans stopped sending money and withdrew their membership..
He was fired (Ahhhh stepped down :) ) and now Mike Duncan of TN, cousin to US Congressman Jimmy Duncan of the 3rd TN District (Knoxville) has moved from 2nd place to the head...(I think)
Anyway Mike Duncan is a conservative...he used to help Jimmy’s Dad campaign...Jimmy Duncan Sr had the US Congress seat before Jimmy Jr...
That’s why it’s so important to make people aware of what’s happening before it comes to that. Once the illegals get amnesty and vote (legally, that is!) it will be too late. My fear is that too many have lapsed into lethargy because the comprehensive bill was defeated in June. They don’t realize that this was just one battle in a protracted war.
Welfare reform in the 90’s got many of the leeches off the dole - and the result was that both they and the taxpayers were better off. It gave the welfare recipients a sense of self-respect and dignity and the taxpayers the knowledge that their money was going to help those who are truly needy and deserving of some assistance.
Right. Martinez went to the DNC thanks to Bush. I think (hope!) that Mel learned a lesson. In fairness to him, he’s very strong on national defense and favors less taxation and big government bureaucracy.
Incrementalism has worked for liberals for well over fifty years. We should use it against them. If we had, we could have had a decent abortion law in South Dakota by now.
The immigration battle is just that, one battle after another.
I agree - incrementalism is kind of like the story about the frog in the water where the heat is steadily and gradually raised. By the time it’s boiling the frog is cooked and unable to jump away. In our case, by the time we’ve lost our freedoms we realize it’s too late.
