Pak heading towards chaos: Sharif

Press Trust of India Saturday, November 3, 2007 (New Delhi) Exiled former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Saturday night condemned imposition of emergency in his country and warned that it was heading towards chaos.

Sharif, who is currently in Saudi Arabia, urged all political parties, including rival Benazir Bhutto's Peoples Democratic Party (PPP), to come together to oppose the move.

Strongly condemning President Pervez Musharraf's decision, Sharif said: ''There could be anything, I think we are heading towards chaos. I don't know what is going to happen to our country and for the first time in my political career so upsetting, disappointing and disillusioning.''

''I think this is something very unprecedented in the history of Pakistan,'' he told NDTV.

He alleged that whatever Musharraf was doing was for his own personal benefit and to perpetuate his ''personal rule'' which is using all unconstitutional methods.

Pointing out that the country was in a ''terrible crisis'', the former premier said all the political forces will have to ''put their heads together and save the country.''

When asked whether he thinks about joining Bhutto to fight emergency, he said the situation was grave. ''We have not witnessed such a grave situation in the 60 years of Pakistan's history.''

He said that the western countries, including United States, should take a ''very clear cut'' position on the situation in Pakistan.

Musharraf imposed a state of emergency in the wake of a rapid deterioration in the security situation and growing uncertainty over his position in the face of a legal challenge to his re-election in uniform.

Wow, the Constitution has been suspended. I am open-mouthed...

It's not like it hasn't happened before, twice at least, in the brief history of Pakistan, which is only about 60 years old.

Martial law was declared in 1969 and held through 1971. Earlier Martial law had been declared and the Constitution set aside from '58 to '62.

Actually it looks like it will go from a dictatorship to a democracy.

There is a fair chance it will go from a dictatorship to a glass plate.

"...Sharif, who is currently in Saudi Arabia..."

Isn't that odd ... A deposed, muzzie, terrorist, former dictator, living in Saudi Arabia? I guess it happens all the time. Or maybe he's just hangin' around S-A for some more terror-money.

Or maybe Saudi Arabia is reading the writing on the wall?

Afghanistan is over! The 'after-Saddamm' war in Iraq has been lost, and it cost most of the trained terrorist fighters from all over the muslim world, and the majority of them were Saudis.

Libya tossed-in the towel! Iran, Syria, and Hizbollah are about to have the very-living-shit kicked outa them, and what's left of 'em will probably join the hated 'Bush-Democracies' routine.

What-the-hell does Saudi Arabia do now? They need a new Country with plenty of muzzies to draw new recruits from, so the war for the caliphate can continue.

I don't think Pakistan is gonna do the bidding of the Saudis, and Waziristan is a good place for the terrorists to go to die ......................... FRegards
