Video: Clinton takes on Russert, says letter was no cover-up

"Breathtakingly" misleading. That's what former president Bill Clinton called a question Tim Russert asked his wife at this week's Democratic presidential candidates' debate. And boy was he mad.

"The implication was that in the last few weeks since she'd been a candidate, I had endeavored to cover up records involving her. You agree with that? That's what people thought when they heard that question," Clinton said. "Here are the facts."

He asserts the letter in question is five years old, involves Hillary only incidentally and requests that the National Archives speed up the release of certain documents, not slow it down. Read more about the controversy here.

Clinton made the comments during an appearance Friday morning on the Microsoft campus with CEO Steve Ballmer. To hear Clinton's impassioned defense in his own words, watch this video by P-I reporter Todd Bishop.

“How often will Slick have to re-inflate his plastic candidate?”

All the time, and it will be real testament to Bill’s political skills, not Hillary’s, if she mananges to clinch the nomination. The Clintons have the advantage of a huge, amazingly organized political machine put together mostly by Bill, coupled with the disadvantage of a real dog of a candidate. Hillary’s only job is to try to look presentable, act likeable and mouth prepared soundbites on cue, and she can’t even do that without screwing up.

The only reason Hillary has a snowball’s chance in hell of being the Dem nominee is that her last name is Clinton.

Clinton-speak.

He did request that they SPEED UP the release.

He did so by limiting the number of documents that he would allow released from 20 million- down to ...5....

Clinton,” See, that’s how you speed things up!!!!”

My take is that slicks political skills are playing to a much smaller audience....and that audience shrinks each time he tries to defend the bitch to which he claims to be married. What other candidate could be by living apart like they do and on occasion getting their photo's taken in public....??? The drive by media would devour a Republican that was doing that....if the female was living with another female....Buckaroo's can you say "Lesbian"

This is a typical Clinton bob and weave, totally misleading and loaded with misinformation. Its never the whole truth and nothing but the truth.
The truth of the matter is:
“Clinton said that under the presidential documents law, he is not required to release any material until 2012.”

Notice that he is not required. But there is no law or procedure that would disallow him from releasing the material.
Not releasing is his choice.
I hate how stupid the Clintoons think we are.

“My take is that slicks political skills are playing to a much smaller audience...”

Yes. At this point the Clintons only need to sucker Dem primary voters, many of whom can’t stand Hillary any more than we can, but think, mistakenly IMO, that she’s the most electable candidate they’ve got. If she gets the nomination, Bill’s going to have a much tougher time polishing that t*rd for the general public.

"Five years ago they were planning for her to run - so they knew what they were doing."

You got that right! They've been planning this for years. There would have been no need for her to run for NY Senator unless she had loftier goals.
