Why Duncan Hunter needs to be our Next President
Marc the Infidel ^ | 11/3/07 | Marc

Posted on 11/03/2007 10:34:27 AM PDT by pissant

I am publicly stating who I support for the 2008 Republican nominee for President, California Representative, Duncan Hunter. Why? The reasons are many but the primary underlying reason is, he better than any other candidate, be they Republican or Democrat, at understand the world landscape both economically and politically. His over all goal is a stronger more protected America.

Hunter, more than any other name on the ballot, is a student of history, not just recent history, he, as they say, sees the big picture. Unlike politicians of the past who have given away the American Dream as a good faith gesture to the world, Hunter wants to protect what is ours. On a regular basis, we always seems to be the ones extending the olive branch to the world only to have it stepped on.

In recent weeks he has spoken out harshly about the Law of the Sea Treaty (LOST) as it gives US sovereignty of the sea to (gulp) the UN. Hunter stated that:

“It is imperative that our nation does not surrender decision making power for military navigation or resource extraction, especially in this age of terrorism with technology and weapons proliferation. And adding a new set of UN bureaucrats with license to tax and adjudicate disputes is the last thing this country needs.” … ”Rest assured no treaty that infringes on the sovereignty of the United States, or further empowers the United Nations, will get anything but a trip to the waste basket in a Hunter Administration.”

See what I mean? This guy “gets it”!

He is the only candidate who consistently sees China as someone we should be cautious of, while everyone else sees China as a former Communist nation on the brink of democracy. Other see their exploding market as a potential for American big business to blossom, while Hunter sees the same thing, he is thinking of America first, the business executives second.

Just today he released a press release in which he publicly calls on Mitt Romney, founder of Bain Capital and Republican presidential candidate, to put an end to a business deal with a Chinese company who is negociating for the acquisition of US defense conractor 3COM. The kicker here is that the founder of this company is an officer of the Peoples Liberation Army of Communist China and is being accused of providing Saddam Hussein with the technology to target US aircraft and helping the Taliban develop surveillance equipment.

Hunter said to Romney in writing;

“I am extremely concerned that Governor Romney’s company would tout a highly suspect Chinese corporation as a strategic partner,” stated Hunter. “Forming a business partnership with a corporation known to have direct ties with terrorists and dictators while, at the same time, openly seeking to acquire a major U.S. corporation that performs vital cyber security work for the Department of Defense, can only be characterized as irresponsible.”

What other candidate would step out and do the right thing like this? Duncan Hunter does his homework, that is what will make him a very effective POTUS. This wasn’t a political ploy, this was Hunter looking out for America, for you and me.

The more you read about him, the more, I am sure, you will realize that he sees things the way most Amiercans do.

I might need to stay out of the fray for awhile, in order not to be viewed as a trouble maker. I’ll pray for you and for Hunter.

Good, maybe it’ll be a wakeup call.

“Duncan Hunter = 3X that with 26.
And what’s he got to show for it? He’s not known to be a leader. No one knows who he is outside of California mostly. If wanted to run for POTUS, he should have done the necessaries beginning several years back.”

If he would have spent the time getting known he would not have accomplished all the things he has accomplised.

“BTW, your mathematics is misleading. Thompson has more than “8 years” of political experience.”

Thompson has only 8 years of experience. Lobbying is not political experience.

All said here may be true but he has no chance of winning. If we don’t pick the guy who can actually win then we will have KLINTON back in the White House and we can kiss America good-by.This may be the most important election of modern times. Choose wisely.

“We don’t get the best, we get the Party Nominee.

Then we vote for the nominee against Hillary.

That’s how it works. Did you know?”

You forgot one thing. The way that we get the party nominee is by voting for our choice. Your argument about the party nominee is sloppy and not well thought out. If we vote in the primary for who we want, we will get our nominee and that nominee will be the party nominee.

I am trying to figure out how some can say we can not vote for our choice when the primaries have not even begun yet. Not one vote has been cast and already there are many who think the primaries have been decided, or nearly decided. Then they try to tell others that they have to back the party nominee that does not exist at this point in time.

Not me. I am voting for who I think will do the best job and if enough of those who think this has already been decided stay home then I will get my nominee.

Who do you think will do the best job as President? Have you even thought about that or are you simply backing who you think will win? This is not a beauty contest.

“If you insist on voting only for the candidate of your dreams you may end up faced with the candidate of your nightmares.”

If you insist on voting only for the candidate of your dreams you will end up faced with the candidate of your nightmares or your dream candidate.

There fixed it for you.

“Sorry, I’m going to stand by my true conservative principles and NOT vote for a man who’s more interested in starting a trade war with China than fighting the real war.

Also, I despise unions, and Hunter sounds dangerously like a unionist. Does he even care about changing the tax code? He seems like the type to keep the status quo of big central government so he can wield his grand power against China and any American companies who dare deal with wealthy UAE countries.”

Good job /s

Now everyone on this board knows that you don’t know anything about Hunter.

I am voting for who I think will do the best job

We run into this every cycle.

When your guy Hunter turns out not to be the nominee, which he won't be,
will you be one of those who will start crying about "writing him in"
and basically throw your vote into the trash?

All that does is help the opposition.

I’ve been educating my friends on why Duncan Hunter is the best hope for the U.S. for months. Unfortunately, many of my friends are Demo-rats and haven’t even heard of him because of his lack of exposure by the dinosaur media.

“I’m sure that Duncan Hunter would make the best president of any of the candidates running, poll standing be d@mned.”

Yes, and he continues to stand tall as more and more flaws are revealed in the MSM/RINO-annointed lot.

It makes me wonder if they were propped up there, and continue to be propped up, for the very purpose of falling on their swords when ordered to.

Go, Duncan Hunter!

I am looking at the primary. After the primary I will focus on the General election.

Too many around here are focusing on the General election and not 1 vote has been cast in the primary yet. I am going to vote in the primary because I know it has not yet been decided and I plan on having an influence in the outcome. Are you going to focus on the job at hand or the presumption of what will be somewhere in the future?

Will he win?

(Maybe. Maybe not. Does it matter? If one wants to talk about the sheer objective morality of it, despite polls, punditry, crystal balls).

Is he the best of the G.O.P. at present?

(NO DOUBT ABOUT IT!)

When the primaries finally roll around to MY state, Mr. Duncan Hunter, if still in there fighting, deserves and WILL get a nice little X next to his name on AiT's absentee ballot.

Not sure.

You would have to ask Dennis Kucinich on that one.

After all, he is the one in the last budge cycle who illegally raised campaign funds here in Tokyo (as well reported by yours truly, AiT, on FR, four years ago in detail.) ;-)
