Given how important it is to keep Hillary Clinton out of the White House, this is something that should be factored by conservatives, even though they don’t agree with everything that Giuliani believes in.
Rudy appears to be the darling of The White House and Wall Street, and this time that may work against him. Too many of us broken-glass conservatives feel downright violated by this administration's outright betrayal of conservative principles and don't cotton to granting de facto support and affirmation to the current crop of elitist GOP traitors, yet again, by supporting by proxy Bush's leftist policies with support to Giuliani. In other words, with me, support by George Bush and his administration is a big strike against Da Mayor.

That’s pretty much how it goes. Just watch, Rudy will be savaged continuously just as soon as he’s “beaten” his opponents.

“I support him but am not rabid about it.”

I feel exactly the same way. However, if Rudy becomes the Republican candidate, and Mrs. Bill is his Democratic opponent, my support will become a lot more rabid...

If Giuliani is the nominee, he will run to the right of his record and reputation in an effort to strengthen support among conservatives.

yadda yadda yadda, sure to another rino it would. He would only be the answer to Hillary if a person is a rino.

No true conservative would be for Rudy.

Have they seen the pics of him in drag yet? Real presidential. (Hint: It does not matter why, the image will be played over and over if Rudy gets the nomination and Rudy will lose.)

That does not even consider his pro-death, gun grabbing, homophillic tendencies.

Democrats are also divided. A lot of leftists hate Hillary and will not vote for her.

Half of the pro-lifers will not stay home. Giuliani will offer enough ameliorating rhetoric over the next several months to change at least some of their minds.

Rudy was brutalized by the New York media throughout his administration. His press conferences were very entertaining. He stood up to them, smacked them down, just hammered them. New Yorkers loved his fighting spirit (except for the die-hard leftists, who thought he was Hitler). If he becomes the Republican nominee, he will do the same on the national stage. Media harassment plays directly into Rudy’s hands.

Hillary will win the election because she WILL steal it.. somehow.

And unlike 2000 when the MSM tried to lie about exit polling to show the Gore was winning, instead this time the exit polling will show the Republican winning (whoever it is) when in reality Hillary and her fascist friends will be rigging the vote in her favor.

She is a snake and will do anything for the power of being Queen of the Universe.

And when she does steal the election, Bush should declare martial law and refuse to allow her to be coronation to occur.

The Republican candidate has lost NY the last five elections, but won the election three times out of five.

Whether Rudy could carry NY state against Hillary, I don't know, but I don't think any of the other Republican candidates can carry NY (although they might do better elsewhere than Rudy).

“Giuliani is the only candidate that a majority of Americans say has an excellent or good chance of “being elected president” in 2008.”

There has got to be something terrible flawed with this poll. If Guiliani is nominated to be the GOP candidate, then a vast majority of “values or morals” voters that make up 25-30% of the the GOP actual “voting” base will deflect to a third party or not vote at all. Without the “values/moral” base of the GOP supporting the candidate in the general election, he cannot win UNLESS he draws in a great many Independent voters. It is quite possible that Guiliani could do this (depending on how independents vote). Clinton is not perceived as being left wing by Democrats and I believe Independents.

Personally, at this point I’m going to vote in the primary for either Thompson, McCain, Huckabee, or Hunter. I’m not fixed on any one yet. If one of these can get the GOP nod, I can support them in the general election. For various reasons, my conscience will not allow me to support either Guiliani or Romney in a general election - even it it throws the election to Clinton.

I have this sinking feeling that November 2008 is going to be a very depressing time.

Half of the pro-lifers will not stay home.

Giuliani would need to get ALL of them to come out and vote for him. Never happen!

Rudy Giuliani has an excellent or good chance both of being elected president and of defeating Hillary Clinton in the November 2008 general election if Clinton is the Democratic presidential candidate. None of the other leading Republican candidates comes close to Giuliani on either measure.

That’s how I see it, and I’m usually right about these things.

He’ll probably pick up more independents and disaffected Dems than any other Republican candidate. I work in Hollyweird, and know several lib/lefties who prefer Rudy to Mrs. Bill...

Mitt’s a Mormon. Big problem for a lot of Americans. A lot.

I’m so glad you told me “Mitt’s a Mormon”.

I didn’t realize I was backing the Anti-Christ!
/sarc

Folks need to get off of their bigotry and unfounded fears.
Do you really believe Mitt will use the Presidency to set up some kind of Mormon Papacy?
