Identity Thieves Contribute To Ron Paul Presidential Fund
KXAN.COM ^ | 02 NOVEMBER 2007 | KXAN - AUSTIN TX

Posted on 11/03/2007 9:47:59 AM PDT by Extremely Extreme Extremist

Credit card thieves donating money to a presidential campaign is becoming an increasingly familiar form of identity theft, but there may be nothing law enforcement can do about it.

For Jaye Ruffino, it started when she tried to pay a bill with her check card but was unable to, because the bank put a hold on it.

"I told them this doesn't make any sense, because this isn't a credit card, it's a check card, and I've got plenty of money in there, so what's the problem?" Ruffino said.

A customer service representative told her there was a suspicious $5 charge to her account.

"She said, 'Somebody by the name of Ron Paul has been trying to take $5 out of your account using this number,'" Ruffino said.

As it turns out, credit card thieves used Ruffino's card to run a test charge, with the money going to the Ron Paul presidential campaign fund.

Here's how it works: Thieves gather stolen credit card numbers online and run the test charges to see which numbers work. If the charge goes through, they know they have an active card.

Representatives for the Ron Paul campaign said they have discovered more than a dozen mysterious $5 contributions in the past three days. They said they're working with banks to return the money.

Ruffino said she is thankful her bank noticed something was wrong, even though she has to get a new card.

Banks should have security measures put in place to catch these test charges on accounts, but it is always a good idea for accountholders to check their statements and credit card bills.

A representative for the Texas Attorney General's Office on Friday said these crimes are rarely prosecuted, because by the time thieves are tracked down, they're often in other counties, and the Web sites are shut down.

In my opinion anybody who would vote for a blame America first anti-American is anti-American.

What is your opinion on people who vote for pro-abortion gun grabbers?

The ONLY thing for him to do is to put out a forceful statement condemning the actions of his supporters and firing those who have broken whatever “guidelines” his campaign

His campaign & his staff has no involvement with the Truthers or anti-war activists. So how can he "condemn" something he probably doesn't know anything about? Thousands of individuals are operating independently from the Paul campaign.

has OR do the honorable thing by resigning his congressional seat and dropping out of the race.

Resign, or drop out of the race, why? He's not going to win anyway according to you guys, right? Chris Peden is going to come save the day.

It’s the white supremists that support him that he has yet to disavow.

He received only one donation, that the campaign is aware of, from ONE individual white supremacist. And despite Don Black's repugnant views, he has a Constitutional right to donate to whichever candidate he feels like it.

It’s the troofers that support him that he has yet to disavow.

Again, these people make up a fraction of his actual supporters, and they are not coordinated by any of the anti-war or leftist groups.

It’s his campaign workers who disparage the service of military veterans and call those veterans traitors because they don’t support paul that he has yet to disavow.

His campaign workers did nothing of the sort.

And keep deluding yourself that they’re not.

These people ARE NOT representative of Paul's support. I don't give a damn what you say, but you're full of excrement, posting these lies and I have to debunk EACH AND EVERY ONE of them!

Wanting to run from the terrorists and appease them rather than confronting them and defeating them is cowardly.

We have killed or maimed thousands of terrorists since 9/11. The Taliban and Al-Qaida is virtually eliminated. How long do you think we should stay in Iraq? The ugly truth is, is that you are not going to kill every single last terrorist in the world. There will always be terrorists regardless if we leave now or stay until the year 3000.

Paul told the NH television station today that he wouldn't withdraw immediately, probably within 2-3 months. That means he'll consult the Pentagon on what should be the best strategy. He's not going to pull the troops out instantaneously. Logistically, it's impossible anyway.

Yeah, it's funny how "conservatives" will whine about the need to vote for Rudy if he's nominated because "only he can defeat Hillary" but damn if a real conservative like Paul is nominated, then THEY'RE going to vote 3rd party.

The president is never going to have any say on abortion, that will be settled in the courts just like the issue of gun control. No Republican would ever veto any abortion prohibition bill or would sign an extreme gun control measure. Cut and run on the other hand would be willing to surrender to the terrorists in a matter of minutes.

“left the Republican party”

He left the party because he was never a “Republican” to begin with.

He’s a RINO just like chris shays or olympia snowe.

It’s pretty sad that he has the lowest ACU rating of all the Republicans from the Texas delegation.

And there are Republicans in liberal states who have a higher rating than he does.

“His campaign & his staff has no involvement with the Truthers or anti-war activists. So how can he “condemn” something he probably doesn’t know anything about?”

If you believe that he doesn’t “know” or has no “involvement” then I have a bridge in Brooklyn I’ll sell to you.

He’s a regular guest on the alex jones show, so that right there shows you are wrong on your claim that he has no “involvement” with the truthers.

Quote from following link: “ron paul believes the kennedy assasination was done by the american govt, also, he believes that 9/11 was a inside job that should be “investigated””
http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=2c5_1179338348&p=1

“Thousands of individuals are operating independently from the Paul campaign.”

Remove the spam bots, forged signatures, pets, and dead people and it’s probably about 100 maybe 150 tops.

“Resign, or drop out of the race, why? He’s not going to win anyway according to you guys, right? Chris Peden is going to come save the day.”

Well yeah he’s not going to win, but he should do the honorable thing by resigning because he has dishonored the uniform he once wore as well as the people he represents when he made the assertion that we were to blame for 9/11 as well as being a two faced liar who has sold you a bogus bill of goods.

He has lied about his record and numerous other things, but people like you act like some spoiled little child plugging your ears and screeching “LA LA LA LA LA” because you don’t want to hear the truth about him.

As my friend said about ron paul:
‘Ron Paul is a charlatan... a snake oil salesman with an American flag label on the “cure-all” bottles with “We the People” scrawled across them. Every time I see him speak, I’m waiting for Josey Wales to walk up to his podium and spit tobacco juice on his lapel.’

“He received only one donation, that the campaign is aware of, from ONE individual white supremacist. And despite Don Black’s repugnant views, he has a Constitutional right to donate to whichever candidate he feels like it.”

One donation that’s been found so far.

And yeah mr. black may have that right to make a donation but the paul campaign has a responsibility to return it which they have yet to do.

“Again, these people make up a fraction of his actual supporters, and they are not coordinated by any of the anti-war or leftist groups.”

So you claim.

“His campaign workers did nothing of the sort.”

How do you know? Were you there at the time it happened?

“These people ARE NOT representative of Paul’s support. I don’t give a damn what you say, but you’re full of excrement, posting these lies and I have to debunk EACH AND EVERY ONE of them!”

You just keep a paddlin’ up that river of denial.

IF you were to open your eyes, you would see the TRUTH about ron paul which is the total opposite of that pipe dream fairy tale BS that he suckered you into believing

You still haven’t stated why you believe Paul would “withdraw, retreat, or surrender” in the face of the enemy. Who is this enemy that Ron Paul will not protect me from ? I live in the USA, with the best military in the world, and I have to tell you, I feel pretty damn safe because of that. Please tell me how Ron Paul would “withdraw, retreat, or surrender” from this “enemy” you keep talking about.

And that was because of the backlash caused by the other village idiot from Texas with the initials of rp, meant that paul had to change parties if he wanted to remain in office.

OR

He left the party because he was never a “Republican” to begin with. So when did he change parties to remain in office because of the Perot backlash when he was out of office? You seem confused.

If you don’t know who the enemy is by now, then you will never know because you refuse to pull your head out of the sand.

In other words you are beyond hope and are just another little sheeple being led by the nose by that coward ron paul to your own slaughter.

Nice try cupcake.

The only confused people around are you sheeple who swallow paul’s BS hook line and sinker.

Funny how he bitches about wasteful spending yet puts in for 400 million worth of earmarks that by his own standard should have been funded by the state or through fundraising efforts by the organizations that will benefit from his pork.

Funny how he whines about NAFTA and how we’re going to lose our sovereignty because of it, and his claims that he’s against the NAFTA Superhighway, yet he requests 43 million dollars to help pay for it.

But people like you and your brainwashed ilk have your heads shoved so far up paul’s fifth point of contact that you fail to see the FACT that your false idol has lied to you.

Democrats supported Reagan too. What's your point?

It just means that they're attracted to Paul's message & are willing to crossover and vote for him. Unlike the other Republicans who are fighting over the religious and pro-war conservatives that is the shrinking GOP base.

He's still a Congressman who has to attend to the needs of his district. At least he looks at the bigger picture and realizes that the system stinks and if he had his way, there'd be no earmarks or pork-barrel.

Funny how he whines about NAFTA and how we’re going to lose our sovereignty because of it, and his claims that he’s against the NAFTA Superhighway, yet he requests 43 million dollars to help pay for it.

The money allocated to the TTC was for studies, not actual construction. And that's a good thing, because it would've brought the project into the public for scrutiny. Or would you rather have it financed by private money behind smoky backrooms.

Ain't gonna happen. Paul point-blank told Wolf Blitzer yesterday that he has no intentions on running as a 3rd party candidate. He has said so at least a half-dozen times in previous interviews.

Now please explain to me. How in the HELL can Paul help Hillary win if he's running as a Republican in a Republican primary and if he loses, he'll just run for his Congressional seat again?

If you don’t know who the enemy is by now

I know who the enemy is but your buddies in the WH wants to hold hands with the Saudis and Pakistanis and believe that Islam is a religion of peace and wants to fight wars that somehow minimizes civilian casualties so the very people we're supposed to kill won't get "mad" at us. Borders remain wide open with possible Middle Eastern types sneaking through and unlimited immigration from Muslim countries.

Gitmo prisoners receive three course meals and prayer rugs and Qurans while the two wrongfully-imprisoned Border Patrol agents are sitting in solitary confinement 23 hours a day. IEDs made in Iran and troops from Iran have been confirmed and captured by coalition forces deep inside Iraq.

Yeah, let's talk about this war on terror, cupcake, please by all means amuse me.

First it's the internet poll spammers then it's the roving band of paulites at the straw polls, teh single guy that works at the cellphone company with ability to spam a cellphone poll, the robot spammers for paul and now it's the dastardly Identithieves working for ron paul, stealing credit cards numbers to fund raise for the campaign. Man this is such a conspiracy and so well coordinated. The Chinese must be behind Paul!
