Identity Thieves Contribute To Ron Paul Presidential Fund
KXAN.COM ^ | 02 NOVEMBER 2007 | KXAN - AUSTIN TX

Credit card thieves donating money to a presidential campaign is becoming an increasingly familiar form of identity theft, but there may be nothing law enforcement can do about it.

For Jaye Ruffino, it started when she tried to pay a bill with her check card but was unable to, because the bank put a hold on it.

"I told them this doesn't make any sense, because this isn't a credit card, it's a check card, and I've got plenty of money in there, so what's the problem?" Ruffino said.

A customer service representative told her there was a suspicious $5 charge to her account.

"She said, 'Somebody by the name of Ron Paul has been trying to take $5 out of your account using this number,'" Ruffino said.

As it turns out, credit card thieves used Ruffino's card to run a test charge, with the money going to the Ron Paul presidential campaign fund.

Here's how it works: Thieves gather stolen credit card numbers online and run the test charges to see which numbers work. If the charge goes through, they know they have an active card.

Representatives for the Ron Paul campaign said they have discovered more than a dozen mysterious $5 contributions in the past three days. They said they're working with banks to return the money.

Ruffino said she is thankful her bank noticed something was wrong, even though she has to get a new card.

Banks should have security measures put in place to catch these test charges on accounts, but it is always a good idea for accountholders to check their statements and credit card bills.

A representative for the Texas Attorney General's Office on Friday said these crimes are rarely prosecuted, because by the time thieves are tracked down, they're often in other counties, and the Web sites are shut down.

“OK, so Ron Paul is Hitler and I’m a feeble minded cupcake.”

If the shoe fits......

“Now, when did he change parties to remain in office”

You researched him for 20 years.

Did he or did he not leave the Republican party to run as a libertarian?

Did he or did he not come crawling back after having his ass handed to him?

“and when did I say the things you falsely attributed to me?”

For the record, I got you confused with another paultard on here. It’s easy to do since you all sound the same.

“you lie about him”

I lied about him? When?

EVERYTHING I SAID IS DOCUMENTED FACT.

FACT: He’s opposed to securing the border with the troops even though that’s what he says he will do (put troops on border) when he pulls out of Iraq and Afghanistan.

FACT: He’s opposed to the AMBER System, but requested funding for a “Child Identification and Tracking System” in Brazoria County Texas.

FACT: He claims to be opposed to NAFTA, yet requests $30 million in funding for the I69/TTC/NAFTA Superhighway project.

FACT: He said Iran is not a threat.

FACT: He said that we can be defended by a few submarines off our coast.

FACT: He says that earmarks are unconstitutional, yet requests $400 million worth of them.

FACT: He claims not to be beholden to the truther movement yet he’s a regular guest on the alex jones show.

FACT: Racists have given donations to him.

FACT: He has yet to return the money.

FACT: He wants another investigation into 9/11 that will waste hundreds of millions of dollars more than was wasted by the first investigation.

FACT: His supporters use illegal methods to spam online polls.

FACT: Some of his supporters are using stolen credit card and bank account information to give money to his campaign.

FACT: He has yet to denounce those two above tactics.

I myself as well as dozens of others on herehave backed up EVERYTHING that’s been said about him, but you’re too blinded by the BS that he spoon fed you that you can’t see it.

You and your ilk go around whining that it’s all “lies” and “propaganda” whenever people point out the TRUTH about him.

You and your ilk sound just like the liberals who were whining when people pointed out the truth about clinton by calling him a draftdodger, a liar, and an adulterer.

On the first question, I am told that he actually remained a registered Republican during the entire time between when he resigned his seat and when he ran again for Congress as a Republican, including the time he ran as a Libertarian. I guess that answers the second question as well.

For the record, you persisted in your "confusion" at post #95 after I politely pointed it out in post #94. Being confused once is fine, especially if you're a man and apologize for your mistake. Continuing to claim "confusion" and sling insults after being corrected is a sign of, well, a lying blowhard who can't admit he was wrong and apologize. Even when you have finally admitted that you made a mistake, you couple it with an insult, as if your mistake is my fault. Way to demonstrate that you can take responsibility for what you say.

So in other words he lied.

He ran for office under false pretenses.

I stated a fact when I said that all you paultards sound alike.

I can go from site to site and never miss a beat in the moronic ramblings or you paul supporters.

So when did he switch parties to remain in office, as you claimed at post 47? Still no answer? How many times shall I ask?

BTW, the actual party switcher was his primary opponent in 1996. A Dem who jumped ship and got the full backing of the GOP establishment in Texas.

And that guy WAS the incumbent, so HE is the one who switched parties to remain in office, only it didn’t work. Paul beat him.

Who, that Dem turned Republican incumbent who switched parties to try to remain in office? I never said that.

And when did Ron Paul switch parties to remain in office?
