Identity Thieves Contribute To Ron Paul Presidential Fund
KXAN.COM ^ | 02 NOVEMBER 2007 | KXAN - AUSTIN TX

Credit card thieves donating money to a presidential campaign is becoming an increasingly familiar form of identity theft, but there may be nothing law enforcement can do about it.

For Jaye Ruffino, it started when she tried to pay a bill with her check card but was unable to, because the bank put a hold on it.

"I told them this doesn't make any sense, because this isn't a credit card, it's a check card, and I've got plenty of money in there, so what's the problem?" Ruffino said.

A customer service representative told her there was a suspicious $5 charge to her account.

"She said, 'Somebody by the name of Ron Paul has been trying to take $5 out of your account using this number,'" Ruffino said.

As it turns out, credit card thieves used Ruffino's card to run a test charge, with the money going to the Ron Paul presidential campaign fund.

Here's how it works: Thieves gather stolen credit card numbers online and run the test charges to see which numbers work. If the charge goes through, they know they have an active card.

Representatives for the Ron Paul campaign said they have discovered more than a dozen mysterious $5 contributions in the past three days. They said they're working with banks to return the money.

Ruffino said she is thankful her bank noticed something was wrong, even though she has to get a new card.

Banks should have security measures put in place to catch these test charges on accounts, but it is always a good idea for accountholders to check their statements and credit card bills.

A representative for the Texas Attorney General's Office on Friday said these crimes are rarely prosecuted, because by the time thieves are tracked down, they're often in other counties, and the Web sites are shut down.

“He’s still a Congressman who has to attend to the needs of his district. At least he looks at the bigger picture and realizes that the system stinks and if he had his way, there’d be no earmarks or pork-barrel.”

His requests were still earmarks....The same damn thing that he whines about being “unconstitutional”. If those organizations needed funding then the state should have provided it OR they raise the money through fundraising efforts.

“The money allocated to the TTC was for studies, not actual construction. And that’s a good thing, because it would’ve brought the project into the public for scrutiny. Or would you rather have it financed by private money behind smoky backrooms.”

Oh how liberal of you....More spin spin spin on your part.

All you paul supporters are the same....You refuse to accept the facts about the BS artist you worship.

Ron Paul is a charlatan... a snake oil salesman with an American flag label on the “cure-all” bottles with “We the People” scrawled across them. I’m waiting for Josey Wales to walk up to his podium and spit tobacco juice on his lapel.

You win. I admit that I've been brainwashed by Paul.

We have several folks here on FR saying he should run under a third party.
I think the only acceptable 3rd party he should run under would be the green party to take away from Democrats.

If he does not run at all as a third party, that would be good.
Once there is a nominee, that is it.

"Point is Democrats would like to see RP there as a third party like Ross Perot to favor Hillary C." Logically if that were truly the case he would pull votes from the left and the core of the right and that that's means he could win hands down if the Republicans nominate him, this is the surest shot. I do think that in a threeway he would easily pull more then the third of the vote between Hilliani. This guy is for real.

OK, OK, so he’s a big spender and anti-American and I’m a cupcake.

Now, answer my question. When did he switch parties to remain in office? You said he did, and I’ve been studying Ron Paul since the 1980s and never heard that before, so I want to know the basis, if any, for your statement.

If you still cannot answer the question, and inform of us how Paul would “withdraw, retreat, or surrender” from this enemy you refuse to name.

I will accept your concession now, as you’ve been reduced to name calling, and cannot form a cogent argument against any of my assertions.

GG’s.

“Paul’s not anti-war nor is he a pacifist. He has always supported a strong national defense & our military.” EEE

Depends on how you define ‘strong national defense’. The problem is that Ron Paul is on record stating that ‘a few submarines’ can adequately defend the United States. He can hardly be counted as a supporter of a strong national defense.

“I will accept your concession now, as you’ve been reduced to name calling, and cannot form a cogent argument against any of my assertions.”

Oh which one are you? Are you the “NATO is obsolete” or are you the “Our borders are international territory” paultard?

Either way it is you who hasn’t formed anything that can be considered a rational thought.

It is you and your ilk who refuse to see the TRUTH about ron paul.

It is you and your ilk who can not answer simple questions about how paul is going to fund the country or how is he going to eliminate most of the government.

The enemy that we are fighting are the terrorists.....You know those people who want to kill all of us.

The terrorists include Abu Sayyaf, Aden-Abyan Islamic Army, Ansar al-Islam, Al-Qaeda, Asbat al-Ansar, Jama’at al-Tawhid wa’al-Jihad, Hamas, Hezbollah, Jaish Ansar al-Sunna, Jemaah Islamiyah just to name a few.

Oh I get it....

You can’t answer simple questions about how your heerow is supposed to follow through on his promises but I’m supposed to answer YOUR questions on demand?

I see that you and your little butt buddy limp principles are trying to carry out a coordinated attack.

Hate to break it to ya but it isn’t going to work.

And IF you were telling the truth when you said that you’ve been studying him since the 80’s then you would see that he’s nothing more than a two faced lying political opportunist who’s out of touch with reality.

And that was because of the backlash caused by the other village idiot from Texas with the initials of rp, meant that paul had to change parties if he wanted to remain in office.

Are you going to back up your claim, or are you just a blowhard who insults people and makes stuff up?

No need to reply, as the answer has already become apparent. You lied about Ron Paul in your post #47, or you would have already backed up your claim.

“Are you going to back up your claim”

Oh like YOU have backed up ANY of your claims.

So you still stand by the whole NATO is obsolete or our borders are international territory BS?

How’s your heerow going to pay the government overhead without an IRS to collect taxes?

How is your heerow going to ensure that airplanes don’t collide in midair as well as set guidelines for aircraft safety and inspections when he does away with the FAA?

It’s damn liberal of ya to demand that I back up everything I say when YOU havn’t backed up sh*t.

Please reference the post(s) where I made those claims, and I will explain what I said. I don’t recall making any of the claims you attribute to me, but if you can find the evidence, I’ll stand by whatever I said.

Also, please back up your claim made in post 47 of this thread, if you can. With each post where you fail to do that, you look like more and more of a lying blowhard.

Well, one reason would be that I have actually quoted what you said and when you said it, you have just lied about me having said things I never said, then refused (again) to support your (second) lie.

Ron Paul is left of the leftists, has never been a conservative but is a libertarian. Not sure if that’s big or little ‘L’. They’re the ones who want to have their cake and eat it too; have all the freedoms without paying the price.

Today is Veterans Day. Pray, tell me what Ron Paul has ever done FOR veterans. All I have heard is that he does not support our troops or their mission in the War on Jihad.

What I tried to point out is that your heerow is a political opportunist.

And despite the claimed “years of research” by you or your butt buddy limp principals you should see him for the two faced lying fraud that he is.

Didn’t he say that he’s FOR term limits? IF that were the case then why the hell does he go against his claimed “principals” and keep running for reelection?

Didn’t he say that earmarks were unconstitutional? IF that were the case why did he request 400 million worth of earmarks?

Didn’t he say that he’s against NAFTA? IF that were the case then why is he funding the NAFTA Superhighway?

He claims to not supporting the truther movement yet he’s a regular guest on the alex jones show.

He claims not to support the neo-nazis, yet he has yet to return donations from them as well as ask neo-nazi websites to take down the ron paul banners.

YOUR heerow sold you a sack full of BS, and you’re mad at me because I pointed out how foolish you sheeple are in blindly following him.

You people sound just like the Germans praising adolf hitler during his rise to power.

The German people thought that hitler was going to be their savior much like you think paul is going to be ours.

The FACT is ron paul is to America as what adolf hitler was to Germany.

hitler and his policies brought about their destruction the same way that your heerow WILL bring about ours.

OK, so Ron Paul is Hitler and I’m a feeble minded cupcake.

Now, when did he change parties to remain in office, and when did I say the things you falsely attributed to me?

If I know that you lie about him and about me, why should I believe anything you say? Prove you were not lying about him and about me, and I’ll listen. Admit you were lying and apologize and I’ll listen. Otherwise, I’ll keep asking you to back up your lies.
