HILL ON A HOT SEAT; A FEW TOUGH QUESTIONS (she's swilling purple kool-aid with her cooked goose)
NY POST ^ | November 3, 2007 | Jonah Goldberg

Posted on 11/03/2007 6:02:34 AM PDT by Liz

Finally, Hillary Clinton is getting some moderately tough questions. People are finally noticing that in answering questions, she follows the advice of Yogi Berra: "If you come to a fork in the road, take it." At Tuesday's Democratic debate, when asked whether she supports Spitzer's plan to license illegals.....Clinton's response can be summarized as: Yes, no, maybe, sorta, kinda. Before the press corps relapses into its coma and Clinton's competitors go back to hiding from her shadow, let's see if she can answer a few more questions:

Now we should not be toooo tough on her, we might make her cry. I think the Clintons liberals call this compartmentalization. She is so smart that parts of her brain just have not met each other ... yet.

Even Goldberg’s lead line is misleading. There was nothing even moderately tough about the question Russert asked. It only became tough when neither Tim nor her opponents would accept her non-responsive reply.

How many times have you seen this with Matthews, et. al.?

He will pose a question to one of his lib fellow travelers. They will offer a platitude, talking point or attack on the president that has nothing to do with the original question. You’ll hear Chrissie whisper “yes” or “uh huh” into his mic. And then you’ll scream for him to ask a follow up that begins...

“With all due respect, that’s not what I asked.”

Even so-called conservative pundits believe that expecting a straight answer from a candidate for the highest office in the land is being tough.

Good grief.

Noting the print & TV media seem to be backing away from the Dragon Lady, is it possible the DNC has decided her negatives and style cannot win in 08 and have sent word to their cohorts to torpedo her candidacy?? It looks like last week was one across the bow!

Well unless that supposed tightly held, (LA TIMES) widely known rumor in media circles, sex scandal is about Hillry, I doubt it.

Appears to me it is more about claiming a month from now the fairness and balanced mainstream media. When they start questioning her about her dirty campaign cash then I will believe they are worried about her election chances.

Not even close. She WILL be the Dem nominee and if we don't have a candidate who is diametrically opposed to her views and policies, she will be the next POTUS. Rudy is not that candidate. We've got to have a Ronald Reagan-style Conservative at the top of the GOP ticket or she becomes Witch in Chief.

There was nothing even moderately tough about the question Russert asked. It only became tough when neither Tim, nor her opponents, would accept her non-responsive reply.

Nobody anticipated she would actually flub a key campaign issue.

All candidates are entitled to 1-2 flubs, but NOT on a major issue.

She obviously was not ready for the question or the firestorm that has ensued.

I was surprised at ole Timmy the other night. When I saw the debate coming up on the schedule I said, “I’ll skip it. It will be another Hillary love-fest.”

Now I wished I would have watched it. Everyone (Lou Dobbs, Chris Matthews, Rush) is saying what a good job that Tim Russert did. I hope they re-run it.

Check C-Span 1 and 2-—they usually rerun debates on the weekend following.

CLINTONS/GIULIANI: HISTORY OF USING GOVERNMENT POWER TO PROTECT ILLEGALS

Interesting that Hillary and Giuliani (both putative front-runners) are on the WRONG side of this issue----the two are both illegal panderers from way back.

Pres Bill pardoned Puerto Rican terrorists to nail latino votes for Hil's Senate race. And Bill opened the gates to a flood of illegals, calculating by formula, the number of fraudulent votes he would get per thousand.

Mayor Giuliani established NY as sanctuary city; he ordered city employees to ignore federal law and barred them from assisting federal immigration agents. Giuliani sued all the way to the Supreme Court to defend the city’s sanctuary policy against a 1996 federal law decreeing that cities could not prohibit their employees from cooperating with the then-INS (now ICE).

Debate Hillary blew the licensing thing bigtime----then compounded her screwup----issuing a “clarification” next day in support of Spitler.

Hillary came to Spitler's defense---now it's Giuliani's turn. Giuliani's history of endorsing liberal Dem governors (Cuomo 1994) has established the precedent for Guiliani to endorse Spitzer.

The Breck Girl's new ad:

"You might want to put some ice on that..."

RUSH: That is the ad. Now, I don't know how many people are going to see it. It's one minute and 23 seconds. It's a YouTube ad. I don't know if he's going to buy time for it on television, but I'll tell you this: If she gets the nomination, this is the kind of thing the Republicans are going to have to do. The Republican nominee, the Republican Party, RNC, this is the kind of thing they're going to have to do. Now, don't forget, that doing what this ad does is what Mrs. Clinton and her team are saying, "Ah, they're hitting me, they're being critical, they're treating me like a girl," blah, blah. That's not pleasing a lot of people, either. So just a little heads-up. Edwards is getting serious about this. He could be just getting it out of the way now. It's really not prominent. We had to dig deep for it to find the YouTube video of it. But this is the kind of thing that she's set herself up for now big time. This little escapade that happened Tuesday night is going to haunt her for quite a while.

Even Pat Buchanan on the Chrissy "Hardball" show said, "How on earth could Hillary's debate prep by her advisers miss providing her an answer to a question they should have known was going to be asked?" Chrissy actually agreed with Pat and said it was a big, amaturish mistake by Hillary's camp.

This issue has legs (no pun intended regarding "Her Thighness", hehehe). The RNC will hit us with this anti-Hillary issue until the day of the election. And rightfully so!

I think the media take their cue from the party through its candidates. If the others start to open up a more vigorous offensive on Clinton, the media will follow along. Their loyalty to Clinton, Inc is for the most part based on fear, after all, not love. If she begins to appear less fearsome, then she has no fallback defense against reality being exposed. If that happens (BIG "if"), she's done.
