Looks like Hardball is playing hardball with Ann Coulter.
MSNBC's Chris Matthews says it will be "a while" before the incendiary conservative pundit is invited back to the show.
The turning point, Matthews says, was Coulter's controversial remarks — which many perceived as anti-Semitic — on CNBC's "The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch" Oct. 8.
"To me, it has to do with how many people are really offended; who tell me to my face when I bump into them," Matthews said in an interview before Tuesday's Democratic presidential debate in Philadelphia. "I'm affected by that."
Coulter "can be funny and clever with her sarcasm, or she can be hurtful," he says. "She doesn't just do evil as her number. You never know what bell she's going to ring. She doesn't know what bell she's going to ring."
Asked to respond to Matthews' comments, Coulter said, through her publicist: "Who?"
At Hardball, an unwelcome guest is "in the boat." As in, sent into exile at sea like Mutiny on the Bounty's Captain Bligh. (Matthews won't say if Coulter's in the boat.)
"Some are in the boat, some get out of the boat," he says. "We change our minds. We don't actually advertise who's in the boat." Dick Morris, now with Fox News, has been waterlogged for 10 years, Matthews says, because of a "blasphemous" remark on the show.
"I'm not going to dignify my punishment schedule. I'm not the high priest of deciding."

If I recall my history correctly, those left adrift in the boat survived in what is called by many one of the most brilliant act of navigation in maritime history. Bligh was also exonerated from charges and those who took part in the mutiny were court marshaled in absentia
Bligh and his loyal crew members crossed over one thousand miles of open sea and landed in a Dutch colony.
Another RN ship was eventually dispatched to Tahiti to bring back the mutineers. Those still on Tahiti were taken into custody but on the way back to England that ship sank after running aground on the Great Barrier Reef. Eventually the castaways were rescued and returned to England, tried and hung.

I am Jewish and I really don’t want people who don’t practive Judaism - such as Chris Matthews - defending me and my religion. Ann, you are welcome in my house! Matthews, however, has been banned for years.

I am a JEW FOR JUDAISM and I consider myself “perfected”, thank you. I am sorry you do not know the Torah and were not present on Mount Sinai when we received it. However, having said that, Ann is welcome in my humble abode.
I recall Matthews’ spitting in Michelle Malkin’s face several years ago. I phoned his station to protest and said to whoever answered the phone “... and please tell Chris to stop dying his hair” and the lady cracked up laughing.
you know, I was at the hospital a few months ago and passed a bunch of very elderly folks in a room. They were all asleep and the tv was on.
Yep, Chrissy was on the tv...He’s a favorite of coma patients and people in the day wards of mental health facilities.
