Looks like Hardball is playing hardball with Ann Coulter.
MSNBC's Chris Matthews says it will be "a while" before the incendiary conservative pundit is invited back to the show.
The turning point, Matthews says, was Coulter's controversial remarks which many perceived as anti-Semitic on CNBC's "The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch" Oct. 8.
"To me, it has to do with how many people are really offended; who tell me to my face when I bump into them," Matthews said in an interview before Tuesday's Democratic presidential debate in Philadelphia. "I'm affected by that."
Coulter "can be funny and clever with her sarcasm, or she can be hurtful," he says. "She doesn't just do evil as her number. You never know what bell she's going to ring. She doesn't know what bell she's going to ring."
Asked to respond to Matthews' comments, Coulter said, through her publicist: "Who?"
At Hardball, an unwelcome guest is "in the boat." As in, sent into exile at sea like Mutiny on the Bounty's Captain Bligh. (Matthews won't say if Coulter's in the boat.)
"Some are in the boat, some get out of the boat," he says. "We change our minds. We don't actually advertise who's in the boat." Dick Morris, now with Fox News, has been waterlogged for 10 years, Matthews says, because of a "blasphemous" remark on the show.
"I'm not going to dignify my punishment schedule. I'm not the high priest of deciding."

Chris probably has more people “in the boat” than viewers. I personally have not seen him since the O.J. Trial - although I did see - on YouTube - his disastrous and hilarious book interview with Colbert.
A little like a flea banning the dog.

Asked to respond to Matthews’ comments, Coulter said, through her publicist: “Who?” (ha ha)
Anyone know what Dick Morris’ “blasphemous remark” that got him in “the boat”?

This is hilarious. Chrissy is just jealous because people actually tune in to watch Ann, and actually pay money to buy her books.
Not to mention Ann is better looking, not fat like Chrissy, and doesn’t spit when she talks.
Hillary can scream F’n Jew Bast@rds and still be on his show at the drop of a chinamans checkbook.
I’ve never watched this guy, not even once, but now I’m going to watch him even less.
What a self-important nobody.
It takes some kind of idiot "journalist" to ban someone from speaking on his forum because a guest says something which someone considers controversial.
I can't tell you how many times I've read journalists praising themselves for protecting free speech, "I may not like what you say but I'll defend your right to say it," blah blah blah.
What Matthews is saying here is that he doesn't want anyone saying anything that SOMEONE will be offended by--thus, the worst thing that could happen on his show is that someone says something interesting, controversial, or unsafe.
I guess his lame ratings have his so scared that someone might actually listen to his show and not think what Matthews wants them to think--which, of course, isn't about thinking at all.
Matthews is a water carrier for a political point of view. Nothing wrong with that; what IS wrong with it is posting as the host of a forum of debate, then cutting out some elements of that debate because, well, SOMEONE doesn't like them.
So much for these talkshows as being "forums" for different opinions.
So by continuing to have unamerican jackasses on his show, I guess he's condoning what they say.
Perfect.

Interesting juxtaposition...
Ann, having a very rich liberal boyfriend with a traditionally Jewish surname is labeled antisemitic...
Yep, I don’t think Chrissy knows how many people have banned his program in their homes labeled “not suitable for viewing by anyone” unless, of course, a guest is Ann Coulter.
The enemy of my enemy is my friend.
Thanks Moonman.

I’ve been kicked out of better places then “Hairball”.
My first LOL of the day!
I’m sure Ann is upset that she won’t be seen by Chrissy’s 9 viewers. Doesn’t Shep have like 5 times the ratings?
According to a report in the New York Post on 10 October 2007, Andrew Stein is presently dating the conservative writer Ann Coulter. When asked about the relationship, Stein told the paper, "She's attacked a lot of my friends, but what can I say, opposites attract!"
