Senior IRGC Commander: Iran Must Become Naval Power

Ali Akbar Rostami, head of Iran’s Navy Defense Research Center, has warned that because 80% of Iran’s economy is dependent upon the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz, and in light of the massive presence of Western, particularly U.S., forces in the Persian Gulf, Iran must become a naval power capable of deterring the enemy and thwarting its plans.
