Indianapolis - Indiana congresswoman Julia Carson says she needs more rehabilitation from a serious leg infection and won't go back to Capitol Hill until mid-December.
She hoped to return to Washington Thursday. But in a statement, the 69-year-old says she's frustrated, but unfortunately healing takes longer than expected.
She is so ineffective, yet she keeps getting re-elected....I feel sorry for the people in her district that do not support her.
71% of 77 votes is 54.67 votes. I assume you mean 71 out of 77 floor votes.
“The 69-year-old Democratic incumbent has missed 71 percent of 77 floor votes...”
Somewhat academic since the Congress has not done a blessed thing since they were sworn in back in January anyway.
This has been pretty consistent her entire career whether she was healthy or not.
The district was gerrymandered to elect a rodent, but we’ve contested it with Black Republicans since the ‘90s (it’s not a Black district, though).
Actually, she’s what I’d call a good Democrat — one that DOESN’T vote after getting elected. I wish they all were the same way !
Ditch the #itch
The local media LITERALLY would not show a picture or sound-bite from her before the last election, AT ALL, to protect her image....
The Black Republican that ran against her was a good man, but couldn’t compete against the free box lunches for votes campaign...
This turd just won’t flush, and now another generation of Carson criminals is taking hold in Indianapolis.
Good riddence to all of them.
Indiana’s version of the TN’s Ford family.
Someone should video tape her and put it on You Tube. Though I suppose the screams of right wing racism would be deafening.
Sounds like the people of her district are being represented about as well as the people of CT, where Sen Dodd has essentially abandoned the state in his impossible quest to be president. Rep Carson should move in with Mrs Dodd to their new home in Iowa.
While it is a shame that the good folks of Indiana are being cheated out of a voice in Washington, she’s what I would consider to be a docile democrat. She ain’t voting! One less check under the leftist D column as far as I’m concerned.
Somebody in Indiana should throw her in the hyperbaric chamber to get those wounds healing.
Sounds like sheâs got a bad staph infection that isn’t responding to meds - could loose her leg
Well, not to quibble, but I hope you don't mean "we" as in the Marion County GOP. It's done absolutely nothing to contest her seat since she was elected.
And really, only two black republicans have run for her seat since she's been elected: Eric Dickerson and Marvin Scott. The problem is that other than Blankenbaker, the Marion county GOP has not supported a single candidate running for her seat. They gave Eric Dickerson a desk and a phone. They wouldn't even give Andy Horning that. It is a winnable district, and the stupid GOP won't help any of the candidates because they aren't "insiders." It's the same thing that is killing--absolutely killing--Ballard in his run for mayor. At least the party has finally stepped up with some money for him to run TV ads, but it might be too little, too late.
The Marion County GOP sucks. There is no other way to describe it.
Part of the issue is that Scott was an upset in the primary. Horning was an upset in the primary. Dickerson was basically the only one that wanted to run. So if the Marion County GOP candidate doesn't win the primary, it takes its ball and goes home as a way of punishing those people that don't work from within the party. The end result is a candidate that doesn't have any money or a trained campaign staff. It's remarkable that the elections are as close as they are, and a sign of how much Carson is disliked within my district.
And by the way, the finger pointing just doesn’t end at the GOP. Where are the quality candidates willing to step up and run?
Why didn’t Merritt run for Mayor? Brizzi? They were too scared to take on Peterson. Murray Clark would have been a great candidate, but he’s getting out of (elected) politics. People who are too scared to run kill me—not unlike how Coats retired rather than run against Bayh.
“The Black Republican that ran against her was a good man”......Eric Dickerson (not the football player)....he was great, I heard him on Greg Garrisons show. If I had the extra money I would have contributed to his campaign and I do not even live in his district....
It’s ridiculous. The rodents don’t seem to have the problem we do with getting people to step up to the plate. The Coats thing was really despicable. If he had put up a fight to hold the seat against Bayh and won, he’d have been a giant-killer. If he had lost narrowly, he would’ve still been well regarded and quite likely drafted to run for Governor (instead of the disappointing Mitch Daniels). Instead, they put up the embarrassing RINO ex-Mayor from Fort Wayne. What a joke.
Much like Tim Johnson’s (RAT-SD) voting record. But some places just don’t mind it if they are not represented.
