Carter provides reinforcement rather than advice. It's a safe bet she wouldn't seek advice from a John Bolton.

It could also be that hearing what Carter suggests she could then in turn, do the exact opposite.

Diplomacy often requires you to listen to the rantings of fools.

The problem is that all the arabs hate Israel even the ones in Iraq

War breaks out with Israel and Syria etc etc the admin fears it will undermine efforts in Iraq etc

Reality is no amount of pandering to the arabs will work

Solution is overwhelming POWER projection

That is all the ME understands

And don't forget that she was also seeking advice from Slick Clinton too.

Although she'll hang on until the end of Bush's presidency, I think it's safe to say that Condi is finished as Secretary of State. No one is ever going to take her seriously again after this fiasco.

Colin Powell and Condoleeza Rice......two incredibly bad Secretary of State appointments by the President......plus the wipeout with Gonzales.

Thank God most bad things DO come to an end.

Rice is doing what the President wants done.

He’s wrong. This is the only viable ‘quagmire’ on the planet.

Rice is doing what the President wants done.

Word has it that the conference was her brainchild, although it was originally announced by the president. In fact, she seems to be supplying the steam behind this entire effort.

Did you miss this part? I, for one, believe that this is true. Even with Powell in place, Presidente Bush seemed to treat Israel with at least neutrality until Rice took the position. Since then, we seem to have all but abandoned our only true ally in the region.

Too true.

Osama Bin Lauden was never more popular in the Arab world than right after 9-11 when he looked powerful. He was never more unpopular in the Arab World than when they were dragging Saddam Hussein out of a hole in the ground.

No, I disregarded it completely, because I’ve seen ‘unattributed sources’ to be shown as nothing but a reporters fevered imagination, or political bias.

Rice isn’t Colin Powell. She’s doing as instructed.

It's likely that history will not judge her kindly.

oh puuuuuuleeeeze.....she doesn't need to listen to Carter's rambling to know to do opposite....
..how demeaning.

She obviously wants his advice because she's not who we thought she was either!
Daily these people are exposing their true selves.

In a quest for peace, the first step is to get the Arabs to admit that Israel has a right to exist.

If I were to criticize Condi for not accomplishing that task I would also criticize the firefighters for not putting out the blazes in the World Trade Centers.

Condi has an impossible task. Keep that in perspective.

Rice is doing what the President wants done.

That's true, though the forced meeting may have been her advice. The likely result of his years of effort will be a third intifada, though if they can persuade Israel to withdraw, a more vibrant Hamas/Muslim Brotherhood/al Qaida state is a distinct possibility.

Carter: The worst President in U.S. history followed closely by LBJ. Although Bush is poised to pass both of them with his Immigration, Trade and energy policies and such boondogles as the L.O.S.T. Not to mention the “No Child Left Behind Act” which essentially Federalized Education and totally out of control spending.

She works for him, Powell was a political gambit, that blew up in his face in hindsight (Powell and Armitage in relation to the faux Plame scandal).

Its a war of annihilation between Israel and the jihadists.

You cannot negotiate with religious fanatics. That this administration is trying it again despite all evidence demonstrating its foolhardy to try is mind boggling.
