Hunter announces military firefighting aircraft to remain in SoCal

U.S. Congressman Duncan Hunter (R-CA), ranking Republican on the House Armed Services Committee, announced today that the fire fighting C-130s deployed to suppress the wild fires in Southern California will remain until continuing winds settle.

The aircraft were deployed to Southern California last week by General Steven Blum, National Guard Bureau Commander, from North Carolina, Colorado and Wyoming.

“This is a precautionary measure,” said Congressman Hunter. “The reverse westward blowing winds are expected to resume and the C-130s will remain staged in California to deliver a quick knock-out punch to any fire restarts.”

The C-130s, which carry approximately 3,000 gallons of fire-retardant and cover a half-mile of terrain, have conducted 74 missions since arriving in California.

The fool. Doesn't he realize that the mere presence of the military ANYWHERE enrages Muslims to attack us?

Like with the war, if the MSM isn’t reporting on it, there’s nothing but good news.

God bless Duncan Hunter! He got swift action in fighting the ravaging fires while the President, Governor and Senatesitter used them for photo-ops as they twiddled their thumbs.

It won't be so foolish if they are stationed is San Fransisco.

The Santiago Fire in OC is only 90% contained, and is still wandering towards Riverside County. Other fires are either out or contained.

Winds are expected again this weekend.

I’ll be back, going to check the L.A. Times, The Daily News, and the Ventura County Star to see if Duncan Hunter made it in their papers. I doubt it.

A search for Duncan Hunter in the Los Angeles Times comes back with 5 hits, The Los Angeles Daily News comes back with 1 hit, the Ventura County Star comes back with 1 hit. None mention this story. They wouldn’t be going out of their way to ignore this guy, would they?

Fire Crews Prep For Santa Anas

SAN DIEGO — Weather forecasters are predicting another Santa Ana this weekend in San Diego County, and fire crews are preparing for any scenario.

Rep. Duncan Hunter announced Wednesday that military firefighting aircraft will remain in the area until the winds settle.

“This is a precautionary measure,” Hunter said. “The C-130s will remain staged in California to deliver a quick knock-out punch to any fire restarts.”
