She should never have come back. What a vaccuous, unintelligent, ineffectual bureaucrat.

It’s too bad Bush isn’t leaving by the end of the year.

” Hughes said she plans to quit her job as undersecretary of state and return to Texas, although improving the world’s view of the United States is a “long-term challenge” that will outlast her.”

Tells you where she stood all along.

But who in the State Department will pander to the Islamists now? Oh, that’s right - everyone else there.

Get a load of Karen Hughes’ dubious successes; spending $400+ million more taxpayer $ on worthless causes like ending the 60 years of war between Israel and Terrorist!

1)She nearly doubled the public diplomacy budget, to nearly $900 MILLION/yr.

2)Hughes advised Bush and Rice two years ago that U.S. help in ending the six-decade old fight over Israel would probably do more than anything else to improve the U.S. standing worldwide.

Good. As a political aide, she wasn’t bad. As an Arab-stroking diplomat, she was insufferable.

Talk about the wrong person in the wrong job.

Karen Parfitt Huges is the daughter of Major General Harold Parfitt (U.S. Army (Ret.). He was the last Governor of the Panama Canal Zone.

A gentle reader (me) states: “To put it gently, Governor Parfitt was an S.O.B., a jerk hated by Americans here in the Canal Zone.”

He lacked administrative skills. He treated employees poorly.

Apparently his daughter didn’t fall far from the tree. She knew/knows the right people to get ahead, but her lack of intelligence for those jobs with which she is rewarded eventually catch up with her.

Did I mention the Gentle Reader does not like her?

In the book Dead Certain there are many references to differences between Hughes and Rove. I think she was too "touchy feely" for Karl.
